  • Patent number: 7252766
Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for treating wastewater containing biodegradable material wherein a submerged stand alone perforated cylinder reactor pod containing aerobic bacterial growth media and a draft tube with air pressure induced pumping action creates a spray or splash pattern so as to recirculated aerated liquor through the media and also to the area surrounding the cylinder pod. Free interchange of mixed and unmixed liquor is provided via the perforations in the cylindrical pod wall. Provision is also made for back flushing the media and returning mixed liquor to an area remote from the reactor pod.

  • Patent number: 5690824
Abstract: A septic system filtered pump vault comprises a housing for an effluent pump, a plurality of effluent filters contained within a filter compartment that is located in the housing, a filter support within the housing. The filters are secured to the filter support in spaced relation to one another so as to provide filtering sections between the filters. The filter support includes at least one backflush conduit provided with a plurality of backflush orifices oriented to direct backflush fluid into the filtering sections onto upper surfaces of the filters. An effluent pump is contained within the housing for effecting flow of effluent through the effluent inlet and through the filters. The pump includes a discharge conduit for discharging filtered effluent from the housing. Valving communicates with the backflush conduit and the discharge conduit so that the pump may be selectively communicated with the backflush conduit to effect backflushing of the filters with filtered effluent.

  • Patent number: 5609754
Abstract: A secondary sewage treatment system is provided with a treatment vessel disposed within a septic tank. The treatment vessel has a draft tube for aerating and circulating waste liquor through the treatment vessel and through media contained within the treatment vessel. The media has one part that is submerged media and another part that is an unsubmerged trickle media. The operation of the draft tube circulated waste liquor within the treatment vessel through the submerged media and up through the draft tube where it is expelled and trickles down through the trickle media back into the liquor in the lower portion of the treatment vessel.

  • Patent number: 5202027
Abstract: A secondary sewage treatment system is provided with vertically-aligned foam collecting, turbulent, mixing, settling, and sludge collecting zones. A grating defines the boundary between the turbulent and mixing zones. Beneath the grating, a buoyant media, such as hollow plastic spheres, are contained and occupy substantially all of the mixing zone. Air diffusers including elongated draft tubes extend from the turbulent zone down through the mixing zone for introduction of air to aerate waste water liquor and to cause the aerated liquor to recirculate up into the turbulent zone, thereby creating a circulation of waste water liquor from the turbulent zone, down through the mixing zone and around the buoyant media, and up through the draft tubes to the turbulent zone.
