  • Patent number: 10969499
Abstract: A device, system, and method for tracking luggage in which the transmission of wireless signals by the device is turned off and on in response to sensor data, including the detection by a barometer of a decrease in atmospheric pressure of at least 13.8 kPa; lack of reception by a GPS receiver of a GPS signal and detection by an accelerometer and magnetometer of low frequency, low amplitude vibrations; and/or reception by a Bluetooth module of GPS coordinates transmitted by another luggage tracking device.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 10140312
Abstract: A low latency metadata subsystem for file systems in low latency (LL) mode in a distributed file storage service (DFSS). An LL server (LLS) may receive metadata requests from an access node of the DFSS. For read operations, the LLS may check a local cache of metadata and, for cache hits, retrieve the metadata from the cache. For cache misses, the metadata may be fetched from the storage subsystem of the DFSS and cached. For write operations, the LLS may write entries into a journal for the file system and notify the access node after the journal entries are committed to the journal; the journal entries are asynchronously committed in the storage subsystem. The access node may communicate with the storage subsystem to perform data reads and writes for the LL file system.

  • Patent number: 9439164
Abstract: The claimed technology provides a new method and process for locating and sharing information regarding the location of checked-in luggage while traveling. As part of the claimed technology, a GSM device is placed into luggage to be checked in by the traveler at the airline counter. A mobile device such as a phone or tablet lets the traveler know that their luggage has arrived in sync with the air flight. If the luggage has not arrived, the claimed technology notifies both traveler and airline of the airport location of the luggage, and proactively triggers the airline to coordinate with the passenger for delivery of the luggage.

  • Publication number: 20090271221
Abstract: A method and network for managing and transferring medical information are disclosed. A network, in one embodiment, includes a portable medical device and a medical records registration (“MRR”) system for handling and transferring medical information. The portable medical device includes patient or client verification information and it is capable of issuing a request for medical related information via a communications network. The MRR system is capable of authenticating the request in response to a set of predefined verifications and obtaining the medical related information after passage of the authentication. The medical related information is subsequently forwarded in accordance with the request.
