  • Patent number: 10277477
Abstract: The current document is directed to a new class of performance-monitoring tools referred as load response performance counters (“LRPCs”). Load response performance counters are implemented to periodically run a task within a computer system in order to apply a specific load to a particular subsystem or component of the computer system and to measure, at intervals, a response time for completing the task. By monitoring the response times, various types of problems, anomalies, and bottlenecks associated with the subsystem or component can be identified and characterized. The design and implementation of particular LRPCs can be precisely tailored to particular components and subsystems at any of many different hierarchical levels, granularities, and temporal ranges in order to monitor system operation and function.

  • Patent number: 5188575
Abstract: An adaptive control system in an automatic four-speed transmission having a unique clutch and gear arrangement which eliminates the need for additional gearing and one over-running clutch, while requiring only one more friction element. The vehicle transmission assembly includes a transmission housing, a rotatable input member, an output member, and a gear assembly for changing the ratio of torque between the input member and the output member. Three clutch assemblies selectively couple the rotatable input member to predetermine gears of the gear assembly and two brake assemblies selectively couple predetermined gears of the gear assembly to the transmission housing. The gear assembly includes the first planetary gear set and a second planetary gear set.

  • Patent number: 4095487
Abstract: Automatic Power Transmission apparatus having output members extending in opposite directions to and generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the engine crankshaft. A transfer shaft has a gear on opposite ends thereof to transfer the output of one portion of the drive train back to another portion of the drive train which is located in general planar alignment with the input to the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4033436
Abstract: A power transmission unit for a motor vehicle comprising a driving member, a hydrokinetic torque converter having an impeller wheel, means drivingly connecting said driving member to said impeller wheel and input shaft, an output shaft, a planetary gear train drivingly connecting said input shaft to said output shaft, a guide wheel, a sleeve surrounding and drivingly connected to said input shaft, a one-way brake device located between said sleeve and said guide wheel, and lock-up clutch means adapted to positively connect the impeller wheel to the runner wheel.
