  • Patent number: 6240852
Abstract: A highway-vehicle system for high speed travel which comprises a below-ground structure defining a cavity and a narrow slot extending upwardly therefrom to the roadway surface. Each vehicle in the system is equipped with a projecting member which, in its folded configuration, can be lowered into the slot. The projecting member includes a pair of stabilization wheels and a pair of hydraulically or pneumatically-actuated brake shoes. Once the projecting member has been lowered into the cavity, the wheels automatically unfold, so that they assume horizontal positions and press against opposing sidewalls of the cavity. With the wheels so deployed, the vehicle can be safely driven during high speed cornering and under windy conditions. The wheels can also be used to automatically steer each vehicle. In addition, the wheels are used to conduct electricity in the cavity sidewalls as part of the power takeoff for an electric vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5964905
Abstract: The invention provides a scented gel candle which is flash proof and provides a greater scent. The candle consists of a container having a candle body of a triblock copolymer and hydrocarbon oil having a high flash point. A wick is located in the candle body and is preferably of an unwaxed diameter of about 3/64 to 5/64 inch. The use of the combination of an appropriately sized wick and the high flash hydrocarbon oil provides a safe candle with a satisfactory release of a scent.

  • Patent number: 5043090
Abstract: The invention is a process for manufacturing an iodophor filler for a lavatory cleaning cake. The process involves mixing in a dry-mixer means or "Turbulizer" a dry filler composition. The dry filler composition contains an adsorbent and the dry-mixer means provides a uniform turbulent flow of the dry filler composition as the composition passes through the dry-mixer means. The method then involves wetting the dry filler composition with a liquid iodophor while the composition is in the uniform turbulent flow. Agglomerating of the wetted filler composition then occurs within a controlled residence time of the wetted filler composition in the dry-mixer means whereby the iodophor is substantially, uniformly distributed throughout the dry filler composition. The dry filler composition, desirably, includes both a dry adsorbent and a dry absorbent. This invention includes the product of the process.
