  • Publication number: 20020173746
Abstract: A disposable insertion tip for a body cavity cleaning or irrigation device includes at least one tear strip. Once attached to the cleaning device, the insertion tip is sealingly locked in a predetermined position permitting liquid to be dispensed into a body cavity and used liquid to be returned from the body cavity through respective interior chambers provided in the insertion tip. The tip cannot be removed without first tearing the tear strip, which once torn, disables the sealing capability of the tip relative to the cleaning device. The insertion tip is preferably made from a transparent material which permits a user to view the efficacy of a cleaning procedure and to note when removal of the tip is required.

  • Patent number: 5838424
Abstract: In an eye test apparatus of the type having a single examination area, an improved view port is disclosed having a view port casing and a mounting apparatus arranged so that the view port casing is movable between a first and second active positions. In a first active position, the casing receives a patient's forehead so that a patient's right eye is aligned with a examination area, and a second active position wherein a casing receives a patient's forehead so that a patient's left eye is aligned with the examination area. The casing is specially configured to occlude ambient light and to accommodate a patient wearing eyeglasses. The eye test apparatus may further have a position sensor system for sending the present position of the casing.

  • Patent number: 5429119
Abstract: A hand-held compact diagnostic device is provided with a pair of instrument heads each requiring an independent source of illumination. The instrument heads may be rotated into a fully extended position and once therein, may be smoothly turned through 360 degrees in consecutive ninety degree intervals to accommodate any preferred orientation desired by the user. Each instrument head is biased in the fully extended position and a rotated closed position. Each instrument head is also adjustably biased to an aligned position for proper closure by the interaction of an adjustment collar with a pair of ball detents. The adjustment collar further biases each head in three additional positions at ninety degree intervals for use when fully extended. A pair of central terminals maintain continuous contact between each rotatable head of the device while a pair of radial terminals are in electrical contact only when the instrument head is in a fully extended position.
