Patent number: 9670670Abstract: An HVAC duct or utilicore for substantially containing air flowing longitudinally therethrough has at least one wall comprised of a poured high thermal mass material with at least one pipe embedded therein during a pouring process, the at least one pipe for circulating a fluid throughout the at least one wall at a temperature that is different from an ambient temperature of the air flowing through the utilicore, for effecting heat transfer through the at least one wall between the fluid in the at least one conduit and the air flowing through the utilicore. A side wall of an elongate monolithic poured concrete building construction module, having a substantially planar main wall and at least one side wall extending substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis, having a pipe embedded therewithin, may form at least a portion of an element that defines the utilicore.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2011Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: URBANETICS INC.Inventor: William Teron

Publication number: 20130180191Abstract: A precast monolithic concrete prefabricated, composite building construction module formed of a substantially planar rear wall. The rear wall has embedded therewithin a radiator pipe for circulating a fluid at a temperature that is different from an ambient temperature of the modular component within the rear wall. The module may comprise at least one side wall integral with the rear wall that terminates at one end at a corresponding end of the rear wall. The rear wall has a length and each of the at least one side walls has a length and extending in a first direction substantially normally away from the rear wall sufficient to substantially enclose and define walls of a standard facility, the at least one side wall supporting the rear wall to cause the module to be free-standing while devoid of lateral support.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2010Publication date: July 18, 2013Applicant: URBANETICS INC.Inventor: William Teron

Patent number: 6457281Abstract: A building module, modular building constructions and methods for erected same are disclosed. The module is of deep U-shape configuration, defining a space which is able to enclose various facilities within a building structure. A typical module includes a raceway and internal conduit system for power and/or communications system etc. Preset-levelling and self-centering device provide for quick erection of the modules in a wide variety of arrays and configurations to provide exterior walls and to enclose and define interior space.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1995Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: Teron International Building Technologies Ltd.Inventor: William Teron

Patent number: 5425152Abstract: A method of constructing a bridge using a two step composite construction process. In the first step, the region to be spanned is bridged with precast prestressed concrete elements that are designed as beams and complete permanent formwork to carry the dead load of the bridge, to provide a high density concrete protective shell giving a greater degree of protection against deterioration from the elements and to provide a very high quality of finish and architectural design, to provide a complete working platform for construction, and to eliminate the need for temporary scaffolding and formwork. In the second step, additional poured in place concrete is cast into the spaces created by the precast elements and serves as beams, post-tensioned to carry the live loads of the bridge.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1992Date of Patent: June 20, 1995Assignee: Teron International Building Technologies Ltd.Inventor: William Teron

Patent number: 4907910Abstract: A long tunnel structure for covering a depressed highway or railway, which provides substantially increased ventilation and over which parkland or building structures can be built. In the latter case the columns of the tunnel structure can be used as columns for supporting the building. The tunnel structure is comprised of support structures for roof beams, and a plurality of parallel roof beams supported by the support structures extending laterally over the depressed highway. Each of the roof beams is comprised of an elongated slab and a pair of spaced elongated upwardly projecting slab legs each spaced from longer edges of the slab and extending along the slab. The slabs are spaced apart a distance sufficient to allow air flow therebetween. Elongated closure slabs are disposed over the ends of the legs of adjacent slabs along the beams to form vents between adjacent legs of adjacent beams.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1988Date of Patent: March 13, 1990Assignee: Teron International Development Corporation Ltd.Inventor: William Teron

Patent number: 4589330Abstract: A combined ceiling, air distribution system, mechanical chasse and structural roof member for a building is formed by a plurality of parallel inverted U-shaped structural modules 15 which are supported in a common horizontal plane. The flanges 17 of adjacent modules are spaced apart and define the side walls of a duct 21, top and bottom walls 22, 24 for the duct also being supported between the adjacent modules. The duct may be of any suitable dimensions, and in particular may be sufficiently large as to handle air flow requirements for the heating, ventilating or air conditioning system for the building. The duct may also accommodate other services such as electrical, plumbing, compressed air, etc. This arrangement dispenses with the need for a suspended ceiling which has conventionally been provided beneath the duct work and service lines attached to the ceiling of a building.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1982Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Teron International Urban Corp.
