  • Patent number: 10562463
Abstract: A hitch carrier is provided that for mounting does not require the user to lift the full weight of the carrier at once, that is free standing in an upright position when unattended, and that may be drag braked from rolling movement to being parked upright.

  • Patent number: 7600774
Abstract: A hitch adapter comprises an inner square tube member for receiving Class-II 1.25? drawbars and an outer U-channel member for plugging into a Class-III 2? receiver. The inner square tube and outer U-channel members are welded together such that one wall of the inner square tube bridges the gap between the distal edges on opposite legs of the outer U-channel. One such leg of the outer U-channel is longer than the other and is positioned and aligned to protrude about 1/16? beyond the adjacent outer corner of the inner square tube member. Such protrusion nests into the respective inside corner of the particular Class-III 2? receiver it is mated to. The protrusion provides a camming action to take up any looseness and slack, and thereby eliminate wobble and rattle when installed by a user. A series of hitch pin holes allows a threaded hitch pin to pass through the adapter, a Class-II 1.25? drawbar and a Class-III 2? receiver. Threads inside the Class-II 1.

  • Patent number: 6131938
Abstract: A receiver-type trailer hitch system embodiment of the present invention comprises a splint assembly with a pair of opposing clamps that simultaneously engage opposite sides of the outer surfaces of an open end of a hitch receiver tube and shank end of a trailer coupling adaptor after being locked into place with a clevis pin. The splint assembly is tightened with a pair of bolts in a vice-like assembly to bring the opposing clamps hard against the hitch receiver tube and the trailer coupling adaptor to eliminate wobble and free-play that would otherwise exist between them.

  • Patent number: 5344175
Abstract: Receiver hitch mechanism including a receiver insert is mounted to a vehicle having a receiver type hitch. The receiver insert includes two apertures which a securing pin is indexed through. The first aperture is not within the receiver hitch and contains a threaded interior which coincides with a threaded exterior of a securing pin. The second aperture is located inside the trailer hitch and includes an interior wedge member which extends towards the interior of the receiver insert and is parallel with the securing pin. The securing pin includes one tapered end for frictional engagement with both the wedge member and the interior wall of the receiver hitch, and a second end for grasping, then rotating the securing pin.

  • Patent number: 5232133
Abstract: An article carrier connectable to a vehicle trailerhitch ball is disclosed. The article carrier comprises a vertical support member having a horizontal support member connected to its upper end and a hitch ball receptacle attached to its lower end. Hanger arm support sleeves are attached to the horizontal support member and bike hanger arms are rotatably coupled to the hanger arm support sleeves. The bike hanger arms can be rotated to be carried in either the transport position to carry bicycles and the like or storage position. Upper and lower ski attachments can be attached to the hanger arm support sleeves and the lower end of the vertical support member, respectively, for carrying ski equipment. In addition, a table top can be attached to the vertical support member to form a table when the article carrier is detached from the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4901896
Abstract: An article carrier for use with a trailer hitch ball wherein a tubular member deviced to fit the trailer hitch balls extended thereover to support the carrier. A latch pin is inserted to prevent the tubular member from coming off the ball. The tubular member is of non-circular construction to prevent the carrier from rotating relatively about the vertical axis of the hitch ball.

  • Patent number: 4765636
Abstract: A steerable pushcart (10) has a body (12). Wheels (14) are rotatably mounted on the body (12) and are positioned to support the body (12) on a surface (55). The wheels (14) have a fixed orientation with respect to the body (12). A handle (18) has a first end (40) with a steering wheel (38) for applying rotating force to the handle (18). The handle (18) has a second end (46) at an angle to the first end (40). The second end (46) of the handle (18) is rotatably attached to the body (12). The handle (18) has a lever arm (56) extending from the second end (46). The pushcart (10) has opposing springs (59, 60) connected between the lever arm (56) and the body (12). In operation, rotation of the handle (18) causes the body (12) to angle from its usual straight ahead position with respect to the handle (18), without a scissoring action with respect to the handle (18).
