  • Publication number: 20130143201
Abstract: A method of identifying a substance that affects the biological activity of a Trypanosome cruzi proline racemase (TcPRAC) protein comprises providing a purified TcPRAC protein, providing a substance to be tested, combining the TcPRAC protein with the substance, and determining the effect of the substance on the biological activity of the TcPRAC protein.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 17, 2009
    Publication date: June 6, 2013
Inventors: Paola Minoprio, Pedro Alzari, Alejandro Buschiazzo, Christophe Grégoire, Armand Berneman, Wim M. Degrave
  • Publication number: 20120076815
Abstract: This invention provides identification and characterization of racemases and definition of protein signatures of these racemases. This invention also provides identification of nucleic acid molecules encoding a peptide consisting of a motif characteristic of the protein signatures, and to the peptides consisting of these motifs. Antibodies specific for the peptides and to immune complexes of these antibodies with the peptides are also provided. Further, the invention relates to methods and kits for detecting racemases using the nucleic acid molecules of the invention, as well as the peptides consisting of the motifs and antibodies to these peptides.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 30, 2010
    Publication date: March 29, 2012
Inventors: Paola Minoprio, Nathalie Chamond, Wim M. Degrave, Armand Berneman
  • Patent number: 7585656
Abstract: The present invention provides the crystal structure of the Trypanosoma cruzi PRACA proline racemase. Methods of modelling drugs that treat or prevent infection by T. cruzi are also provided, as are the drugs that are identified.
