  • Patent number: 5366511
Abstract: A process for the dyeing of a fibrous article containing wool with an anionic dye and products processed thereby. The process includes immersing the article in a dyeing bath of a liquid solvent for the anionic dye. The liquid solvent and the article are heated to a temperature at least equal to the dyeing transition temperature. At least a portion of the dye is added as a miscible liquid concentrate while the solvent and the article are up to temperature. Stirring of the bath during the dye addition period and while the solvent and article are up to temperature is done to mix the dye concentrate with the solvent to form a dilute dye solution and to provide a flow of the dilute dye solution relative to the article to cause, on the average, essentially uniform dye transport of the anionic dye to the article. The dye addition rate is adjusted so that the dye addition rate is the primary control over the rate of dye uptake by the article.

  • Patent number: 5318598
Abstract: A process for the dyeing of a fibrous article containing fibers of a polyamide polymer with at least one anionic dye. The process includes immersing the article in a liquid dyeing bath of a substantially nonaqueous solvent medium and heating to a temperature at least equal to the dyeing transition temperature of the fiber. The anionic dye is added to the dyeing bath so that the rate of dye addition is the primary control over the rate of dye uptake by the article.

  • Patent number: 5314504
Abstract: A process for increasing the washfastness of a fibrous article containing polyamide fibers dyed with anionic dye by treatment with an anionic dye fixing agent. The process includes immersing the article in a liquid bath of either an aqueous or substantially nonaqueous solvent medium for the fixing agent and heating to a temperature at least equal to the dyeing transition temperature of the fiber. The fixing agent is added to the bath so that the rate of fixing agent addition to the bath is the primary control over the rate of fixing uptake by the article at the early stages of aftertreating. In the later stages, the rate of fixing agent addition controls the concentration in the bath whereby the propensity for the fixing agent to agglomerate from the bath is decreased.

  • Patent number: 5230709
Abstract: A process for the dyeing of a fibrous article containing fibers of a polyamide polymer with an anionic dye and dyed products made by the process. The process includes immersing the article in a dyeing bath of a liquid solvent for the anionic dye. The liquid solvent and the article are heated to a temperature at least equal to the dyeing transition temperature of the fiber of polyamide polymer. The anionic dye is added to the dyeing bath as a miscible liquid concentrate at a dye addition rate during a controlled dye addition period. At least a portion of the dye is added while the solvent and the article are at a temperature at least equal to the dyeing transition temperature.

  • Patent number: T100202
Abstract: Light weight knit fabrics of reduced air permeability and light transmission as well as decreased susceptibility to snagging are provided by a calendering process that involves selecting a dyed knit fabric composed of fibers from the group of (1) at least 40% by weight of polyester fiber and from 0 to 60% by weight of a fiber of the group consisting of wool, cotton, nylon, and acrylic fiber or (2) about 5-30% by weight of a spandex fiber and from 70 to 95% by weight of a fiber of the group consisting of wool, cotton, nylon, polyester and acrylic fiber and calendering the back side of the fabric at a calender roll temperature between about 200.degree. to 320.degree. F., at a calender roll pressure of between about 0.5 to 1.0 ton per linear inch and at a calender roll surface speed of from 10 to 30 yards per minute.
