Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for creating an electronic version of printed matter. Advantageously, the electronic version of the printed matter is such that is has the same appearance and layout as the printed matter. The electronic version of the printed matter is also such that that a viewer's interaction with the electronic version can trigger the sending of information to the viewer. The information can be in various forms including an e-mail or e-coupon. It comes with an intelligence and interactive module where viewers can read other languages' printed matter instantaneously with multi-lingual translation both in text and voice. The apparatus and method is also capable of compressing the electronic version so that it can be quickly and efficiently distributed to viewers over numerous networks. These networks can include LAN, WAN, internet, or mobile and wireless communication networks.

Abstract: Search templates for a web portal search engine of the internet are provided and a method of use of such templates in customer transactions is provided. The method incorporates processing coded information in respect of a transaction by a customer and a merchant, the customer being a user of a mobile phone with a search template, which phone is connectable to an SMS server, which in turn is connectable to the Internet; the merchant having a GSM device connectable to a GSM terminal and to the Internet; each customer having a unique identification number (“UIN”) for use in transactions; each merchant having a unique identification number for use in transactions; wherein the customer and merchant can complete a secure transaction.

Abstract: Search templates for a web portal search engine of the internet are provided. Each said template is capable of use by a mobile user, each said template being in the form of a search index card capable of use to compose an alphanumeric message for broadcast, and capable of use for interpreting a received message, by the mobile user on a mobile phone, said message being transmitted through a mobile phone network and a server gateway, with electronic transfer of a message to (and from) the said search engine, there being no need for the mobile user to have an internet address of a mobile phone.

Abstract: A security system and security method is provided for internet transactions for use in an electronic funds transfer environment and for confirmation of transactions over the internet. The system and method includes online processing of business transactions between at least one buyer, at least one seller, and at least one bank, where each user communicates via the internet and where each transaction incorporates use of a security key, said key comprising: code generated by a code engine independent of the buyer, the seller and the bank, said code being conveyed to the buyer by means independent of the internet, said code being supplied in machine readable format. The code is electronically verified by the seller and banker with the code engine before the transaction occurs.

Abstract: A method of creating a hybrid file provides at least a first file and a second file, each file having contents in a file type that is different from the file types of all the other files. The method then reads and interprets the at least first and second files, and creates a hybrid file that contains the contents of the at least first and second files, the hybrid file having a hybrid file type that is different from the file types of the at least first and second files.

Abstract: A method of relaying digital video data over a communications medium such as the Internet is provided where accelerated relaying time can be realised. The method involves assembling digital data of one frame representing a scene of a video image plus data of one or more filters and parameters therefor to be applied to the digital data over a plurality of repeated frames of that scene. All that data is relayed to a users personal computer and then an apparent video movie is generated at the personal computer over a plurality of repeated frame images of the one frame by applying the filters thereto. The filters can include PAN ZOOM FADE etc., so that when applied over the plurality of frames each of the same scene, there will be an apparent motion video movie. Many scenes and filters can be employed to enhance the video.
