  • Patent number: 11913322
Abstract: A production well system includes a main wellbore extending from a wellhead and penetrating a subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing formation, a lateral wellbore extending from the main wellbore, production tubing arranged within the main wellbore and in fluid communication with a production fluid present in the subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing formation, a separator arranged within the production tubing and operable to separate the production fluid into a hydrocarbon stream and a water stream, wherein the hydrocarbon stream is conveyed to the wellhead within the production tubing and the water stream is conveyed to the lateral wellbore, and a pump arranged uphole from the separator and operable to receive and convey the water stream into downhole portions of a lateral wellbore, thus creating a multi-purpose well which may reduce operating and capital expenditures while increasing production of existing and dead wells.

  • Patent number: 11499424
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining the productivity indices for individual laterals of a completed multilateral well under commingled flow comprise a productivity index generator, zonal inflow control valves (ICVs), and a pressure downhole monitoring system (PDHMS). The completed multilateral well comprises a mother bore and a plurality of laterals extending from the mother bore in corresponding well zones of the mother bore. Each zonal ICV is configured to close for a shut-in period and open for an open period. The PDHMS is configured to generate real time pressure measurements for each well zone of the mother bore. The productivity index generator is communicatively coupled to the zonal ICVs and the PDHMS and is operable to determine a productivity index for individual laterals under commingled flow based on (i) the productivity index ratio of individual laterals under non-commingled flow and (ii) the global well productivity index under commingled flow.

  • Patent number: 10883339
Abstract: A hydrocarbon reservoir model simulation is executed to distribute gas among available gas injectors associated with a hydrocarbon reservoir. Using the result of the executed hydrocarbon reservoir simulation, streamline tracing is executed to calculate hydrocarbon flow fields. Using the results of the executed hydrocarbon reservoir simulation and the executed streamline tracing, a reservoir pressure equalization (RPE) algorithm is executed to distribute an amount of gas according to an injection strategy to satisfy an assigned voidage replace ratio (VRR) for each region of the hydrocarbon reservoir. Post-processing of the results of the RPE algorithm is performed. Using the result of the post-processing, gas injection in the hydrocarbon reservoir is performed with the available gas injectors.
