Abstract: A shoe bottom (2), in particular for sports shoes, having a plurality of individual flexurally resilient carrier elements (21) which are directed transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the shoe and which are arranged at spacings one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the shoe. The carrier elements are connected to a cover plate portion (20) on the foot side and to an outsole layer (22) on the outward side. Each carrier element (21) is formed by a closed box profile with an upper web portion which extends transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the shoe, a lower web portion which is parallel to the upper web portion, two lateral support walls which connect the ends of the web portions together and bracing means supporting the upper web portion relative to the lower web portion. Abstract: An outsole for sports shoes comprising a carrier element (1) of relatively hard material and relatively soft sole portions (2, 3) which are secured to the carrier element on the outward side thereof. The carrier element (1) comprises a sole plate (11) which is stiffened by stiffening wells which are disposed approximately perpendicular to the surface of the plate and which substantially follow the contour of the edge of the sole. To provide for deformability of the carrier element (1), in the shank region (4) the height of the stiffening walls (13, 14) is at least locally markedly lower than in the heel region of the sole plate (FIG. 1).

Abstract: An outsole of flexible plastic material for sports shoes with a recess (4) beneath the heel support surface (A) for accommodating a plurality of individual bodies (5) comprising a resilient material, which fill the recess and which in the non-loaded condition bear against each other only in a region-wise or point-wise manner, forming spaces therebetween. The individual bodies (5) may be in the form of balls and may be joined together by a matrix of small connecting limb portions, to provide for better handling.

Abstract: A running shoe comprising a front sole of hard plastic material for mounting gripping elements, and a support member arranged behind the rearmost gripping elements, of elastically deformable material. In order to ensure that it is better possible to maintain a foot attitude required for optimum running efficiency, the support member is a wedge member which increases in thickness in a rearward direction and which comprises a relatively hard but elastically pressure-deformable material, wherein the underside thereof is disposed approximately in one plane with the front sole, and the wedge member extends at least with its portion associated with the outer edge of the sole, into the shank region of the sole.

Abstract: The shank of a shoe bottom is stiffened by a stiffening member against bending in both directions about first and second axes transverse to the longitudinal axis of the shoe while permitting relative twisting movement of the front and rear sole portions.

Abstract: An elastic sport shoe sole having a plurality of parallel ribs, and each rib is provided on its length alternate zones of different types, one type is a downwardly rounded section of which the width is substantially each to the height and the other type is a narrow section in the form of a lamellar of which the width is small with respect to the height.

Abstract: A binding for the heel of a ski boot or shoe used with a cross-country or touring ski. The binding arrangment includes an axial rib on the ski which engages in a longitudinal groove in the bottom of the heel of the ski boot. The heel of the ski shoe has a transverse recess above the groove and a fastening element connected to the ski behind the region of the heel of the boot has a projection which can enter the transverse recess of the heel of the shoe to thus hold the heel against both vertical and transverse movement with respect to the ski. The front of the boot can be fastened to the ski in any desired manner and the shoe, when the heel binding is released, is then free to flex so that the skis can be used for "walking".
