  • Patent number: 4573355
Abstract: A propeller 12 is supported by means of a propeller accommodation 10 comprising a fixing flange on a tubular hollow bending spring 16. A tubular transmitting member 24 coaxial to the hollow bending spring 16, is affixed to the propeller accommodation 10. The position of the transmitting member 24 is detected in two coordinates by sensors 26 and displayed as a light spot by a vector display instrument. This results in calibratable unbalance display. An axial plunger 32 mounted on the hub 14 of the propeller 12 for the blade adjustment extends into the tubular transmitting member 24 and does not obstruct the mounting of the propeller 12 on the propeller accommodation 10.

  • Patent number: 4475393
Abstract: A workpiece to be balanced, which during a measuring run is driven or rotating in the coupling-free mode and is provided with a mark for contact-free pick-off to generate a reference signal, is to be positioned subsequently, that the unbalance is at a predetermined location below a marking or correcting device. To this end pulse sequences synchronous with the supporting rollers carrying the workpiece are generated. The pulses are counted in a counter between the reference signal and an unbalance position signal derived from the unbalance signal. For the positioning the counter is counted down to zero by these pulses starting from the reference pulse. When the counter passes through zero the unbalance is in the plane of the pick-off device for detecting the mark.

  • Patent number: 4214481
Abstract: An annular ferromagnetic portion, i.e., "track", of the body to be balanced is rotated adjacent a first electromagnet having a decaying magnetic field which renders that track magnetically homogeneous. Thereafter, a large electrical current of short duration from the discharge of a capacitor is passed through a second, marking electromagnet positioned adjacent that track to produce a high-intensity magnetic pulse. This magnetic pulse produces a very localized spot of permanent magnetization in the track which spot serves as the reference "mark". When the body is then rotated during its balancing operation, that mark will produce an electrical signal each time it passes a magnetic/electric transducer positioned adjacent the rotating track.
