  • Patent number: 9898722
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing custom structured tags at a self-service terminal are disclosed. Custom structured tags received by a self-service terminal can include information to identify one or more devices attached to the terminal and identify one or more types of data to be obtained from a user by use of the attached devices. In some embodiments, a browser can natively interpret the custom structured tags. The self-service terminal can also be configured to receive and decode structured tags identifying or more actions to be performed by the device, such as printing a transaction record or dispensing currency.

  • Publication number: 20150178697
Abstract: Approaches are disclosed for operating a self service terminal, such as an automatic teller machine, as a virtual teller in a branch office. A virtual teller terminal is connected to a secure banking network at a bank branch office and a virtual teller account is established between the automatic teller machine and a branch server operating the branch office. The virtual teller account is used by the automatic teller machine to process customer requests received by the automatic teller machine.

  • Publication number: 20070143225
Abstract: The invention features a method for authorizing access to an ATM. An ATM receives from a user first biometric information and a first identifier corresponding to at least the user. The ATM transmits the first identifier to a first computer outside the ATM. The first computer reads second biometric information from storage based at least in part on the first identifier. The first biometric information with the second biometric information are compared to generate comparison information. The ATM then authorizes user access to financial transactions based at least in part on the comparison information.

  • Publication number: 20070131757
Abstract: The invention features a method for administering an ATM. One or more transactions are conducted at the ATM and the ATM generates one or more logs corresponding to the transactions. A communications link is established between the ATM and a computer. The logs are represented in an XML-based format and are transmitted over the communications link in that format. XML stands for extensible Markup Language.

  • Patent number: 6760796
Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart card and to a method of operating the smart card in which the smart card has input/output means enabling the smart card to receive and transmit data regarding individual financial transactions. The smart card has a microprocessor which incorporates a read only memory, a random access memory and input/output ports. The smart card is able to communicate through the ports when suitably positioned within a smart card reader. The internal operations of the smart card are controlled by the microprocessor as determined by program microinstructions that are stored in the read only memory. The microinstructions include a number of application programs enabling the smart card to conduct financial transactions, other related applications and transaction logging operations. The smart card has a secure area and an unsecured area within the random access memory.
