  • Patent number: 6037035
Abstract: A spacer fabric, in particular a velour fabric, having a first layer (1) and a second layer (2) and pile threads (4, 5, 6, 7) joining the layers (1, 2) together. To obtain such a spacer fabric in particular as a basis for the production of a building component formed therefrom by resinification, in which despite increase in strength there is the least possible increase in total weight and/or in which there is achieved as simple and effective as possible processing having regard to resinification, between the layers (1, 2) and joined to or starting from the freely floating pile threads (4, 5, 6, 7), there are provided branches running in weft and/or warp direction, which branches, in so far as they are woven, are accommodated in a cross-over region between two pile threads (4, 5, 6, 7), each of which alternates from layer to layer (additional weft threads), or runs alternately around neighbouring additional weft threads (additional warp threads).

  • Patent number: 5480697
Abstract: A structural part having as its basis a sandwich fabric, in particular a velour fabric, having at least a first layer (a) and a second layer (b) and intermediate links connecting said layers (a, b), in which connection the fabric consists of a technical yarn such as aramid fiber, carbon fiber, ceramic fiber or, in particular, glass fiber, is resinified and cured, and the intermediate links form rigid spacing elements for the first and second layers (a, b). In order to be able to produce, in particular, structural parts which have a strong curvature, at least one of the layers (a, b) be woven in an open weave, such as used also in multi-layer fabrics.

  • Patent number: 5163166
Abstract: Fragments, also in the shape of projectiles with a length to diameter ratio greater than 3, can be successfully accelerated directly by means of an explosive if at least one forward casing in the frontal zone of the fragment causes the shock wave generated by detonation of the explosive to pass from the fragment into the forward casing, which subsequently detaches from the fragment thus protecting the fragment from the destructive effects of the reflected shock wave.

  • Patent number: 5050703
Abstract: The invention furnishes an electrodynamic transducer head for a non-destructive testing of workpieces with electrically conductive surfaces by way of ultrasound. A magnet system is employed for generating of a static or a low-frequency magnet field, and at least one transducer coil is disposed at the front face of the magnet system disposed toward the workpiece. The transducer coil is furnished on the side toward the workpiece with a wear-resistant layer, and the transducer coil exhibits between itself and this front face of the magnet system an intermediate part with an insulating layer, which is solidly connected with the front face and with the coil adjoining at the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 4903737
Abstract: A fabric which contains warp threads made of a delicate material is produced on a loom which includes a main reed and auxiliary end reeds at opposite ends of the main reed and which are independently operable with respect to the main reed. The warp threads made of delicate material are extended through the main reed and warp threads of a more robust material are extended through the auxiliary end reeds. As each filler (weft) thread is inserted in a shed the auxiliary end reeds are moved to beat the associated portions of the weft threads. Only after a plurality of weft threads have been inserted is the main reed moved to beat the associated portion of the weft threads, thereby reducing the frequency of movement between the dents of the main reed and the delicate warp threads and thereby reducing frictional destruction thereof.

  • Patent number: 4818580
Abstract: A housing component part includes a multi-layer weave impregnated with resin. The upper weave layer has a very fine structure and the lower weave layer has a structure coarser than the upper weave layer. Tying fibers interconnect the upper and lower weaves to form a unit which is thoroughly impregnated with the resin. Because of the very fine structure of the upper weave layer, the outer surface of this layer is hard and forms a good surface for receiving an enamel thereon.

  • Patent number: 4646572
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the interference-free testing with guided waves for faults, through cyclic production and reception of ultrasonic waves, through assessment of the received HF-signals for signal components, which derive from faults and through evaluation of the result. In order to reliably improve the capabiliy of assessing the received HF-signal over the greatest possible lengths covered and thereby to enable the testing for faults to be carried out at a high speed and a high degree of reliability, it is proposed that the received HF-signals are digitalized within the cycle and that from the digital HF-signals of several successive cycles average values are formed and these are likewise rectified with the aid of a computer and in each case are filtered and assessed with a threshold value characteristic and if required a signal analysis for faults in the testing path.

  • Patent number: 4578999
Abstract: An instrument for testing of test pieces made of paramagnetic or diamagnetic material as well as of ferromagnetic materials above their Curie point for material defects and/or dimensional accuracy, especially for testing of tubes and slabs above 1000.degree. C. The instrument comprises an electromagnetic transducer (EMT) having magnetic pole shoes and eddy current exciting and receiving windings; and an electronic signal processing unit. The inner pole shoe is conically tapered and fabricated from individual sheets parallel to one another and insulated from each other to prevent the formation of eddy currents that would give rise to undesirable ultrasonic waves that might interfere with the testing process. The pole shoes are positioned so as to develop a magnetic field parallel to the test piece, and the eddy current exciting and receiving windings are heat-insulated with respect to the test piece.
