  • Patent number: 5087649
Abstract: Dry products in flake or granulate form suitable as a paste base may be obtained by drying a mixture, containing approximately 30 to 80% by weight of water, of from(a) 30 to 95% by weight of carboxymethylated and/or alkoxylated starch,(b) 3 to 40% by weight of a cellulose ether, and(c) 2 to 40% by weight of a water-dispersible polymer or water-soluble polymer, and(d) optionally, conventional additives, such as preservatives, wetting agents, fillers and the like,in a thin layer on a surface heated to 80.degree. to 200.degree. C. The dry products obtained do not undergo physical separation and are readily dispersible or self-dispersible in water.

  • Patent number: 4696836
Abstract: The invention relates to a hand stamp adhesive applicator and method for applying a liquid adhesive to a defined area on a surface. The applicator includes a housing, an adhesive transfer stamp pad, a container, an adhesive applying stamp body, and a support mechanism for the stamp body. The housing includes a base and an upper part coupled to, and vertically displaceable with respect to, the base. The adhesive transfer stamp pad is supported in the housing and formed of a material permeable to the liquid adhesive. The container is also supported in the housing above, and in fluid communication with, the stamp pad. The adhesive applying stamp body applies the liquid adhesive to the defined area of the surface; and the support mechanism supports the adhesive applying stamp body in the housing for motion between an upwardly facing inoperative position to receive the liquid adhesive from the adhesive transfer stamp pad and a downwardly facing operative position to apply the liquid adhesive to the surface.

  • Patent number: 4639475
Abstract: The invention relates to an adhesive stick of an adhesive resin dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous solvent system and containing a gel-forming component and, if desired, other standard additives. The new adhesive stick is characterized in that its adhesive layers applied by rubbing onto a receiving surface show permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive properties and in that the stick contains the reaction product of sorbitol and/or xylitol and benzaldehyde as the gel-forming component and, as adhesive resin, a reaction mixture from the reaction of methyl vinyl ether/maleic acid anhydride copolymers with partially neutralized acid phosphate esters of nonionic wetting agents of the lower alkylene oxide adduct type.

  • Patent number: 4619711
Abstract: An aqueous alkaline paint stripper composition which forms a foam when dispersed from an aerosol container comprising:A. from 47 to 94% by weight of an aqueous solution containing from about 5 to about 40% by weight of at least one strongly alkaline substance,B. from 1 to 8% by weight of at least one surfactant,C. from 5 to 30% by weight of at least one propellant,D. from 0 to 5% by weight of at least one foam stabilizer and/or thickener, andE. from 0 to 10% by weight of at least one water-miscible organic solvent, and a method of stripping paint using the above paint stripper composition.

  • Patent number: 4533490
Abstract: A process for producing in situ foams based on alkali metal silicates characterized in that an aqueous alkali metal silicate solution on the one hand and a hardener solution on the other hand are accomodated in separate pressurized containers A and B, prior to use the hardener solution in container B is added to and mixed with the silicate solution in container A in the presence of a suitable emulsifier for foam formation and a propellent gas liquid under high pressure between 0.degree. and 50.degree. C., and, on actuation of the discharge valve of container A, an alkali metal silicate foam is discharged. The alkali metal silicate foams formed are distinguished by non-inflammability, high temperature stability and good heat-insulating properties and are used as a filling, construction and insulating material or the like in the building industry.
