  • Patent number: 11352904
Abstract: A magnetic bearing assembly for a rotary machine may lose power and fail to support the rotating assembly resulting in damage to magnetic bearing assembly and/or other components. An auxiliary bearing assembly may be used to support the rotating assembly during such a failure. The auxiliary bearing assembly is located radially inwards of the magnetic bearing assembly and may reduce resonance and/or whirl of the rotating assembly during failure of the magnetic bearing assembly.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 17, 2020
Date of Patent: June 7, 2022
    Assignee: Solar Turbines Incorporated
Inventors: David H. Moulton, Wolfgang Faller, Jess Lee Freeman

  • Publication number: 20150104335
Abstract: The internal-driven compressor having a powered compressor rotor. The internal-driven compressor includes a compressor housing including a suction port and a discharge port, an internal driver including a rotor and a stator, the rotor and the stator located within the compressor housing, the stator located radially inward of the rotor, and a powered compressor rotor including an annular body extending about a center axis, wherein the rotor is fixed to the powered compressor rotor and configured to rotate the powered compressor rotor about the center axis in response to a force imparted by the stator.

  • Patent number: 6915887
Abstract: A drive member (1) for a water pump of the cooling-water circuit of an internal combustion engine, with a drive wheel (7) and a shaft (4) which is coupled to the water pump, is proposed. According to the invention, for the transmission of torque between the drive wheel (7) and the shaft (4), an electromagnetically actuable friction-disk clutch (9, 10, 11, 12) and a second clutch device in the form of an eddy-current clutch (14) are provided, the latter taking up the shaft (4) when the friction-disk clutch is out of engagement. Moreover, a frictional shift clutch for a drive member of this type is proposed.
