  • Patent number: 5620116
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary vane gate for free-flowing bulk material and Comprises a housing provided with housing covers on the end faces as well as with an inlet opening and an outlet opening and a compartmentalised wheel disposed in the housing with a rotatably mounted drive shaft, the wheel having compartments which are axially delimited by limiting plates 11. With a view to a construction which is particularly resistant to pressure shocks and is safe against penetration of flames, a sealed wear plate is provided between each limiting plate of the wheel and the neighbouring housing cover and at least one bypass chamber is provided between this wear plate and the limiting plate. The axial internal width of the inlet opening corresponds at most to the axial internal width of the compartments and the axial internal width of the outlet corresponds approximately to the overall length of the wheel including the bypass chambers.

  • Patent number: 4930943
Abstract: The invention relates to a bulk material silo and method operating such silo, the silo being provided with a central discharge chamber from which a venting channel leads to the peripheral wall of the silo, the side walls of the channel having openings of the material to enter. Such a silo construction ensures a symmetrical material supply to the discharge chamber over the entire periphery.

  • Patent number: 4539782
Abstract: A silo for loose material in powder form having a base provided with a central conical section projecting upwards to form an annular discharge zone having floor portions inclined in a direction leading to an opening in a discharge chamber and in such manner that the material flows approximately tangentially towards the material discharge openings.

  • Patent number: 4533395
Abstract: A solid fixation product of harmful, water-containing waste materials and cement, which product is highly resistant to leaching by water and salt solutions. The product has a high content of 20 to 50% of waste materials based on the dry weight of the waste in the product and a water content corresponding to a water-to-cement ratio of 0.2 to 0.45. The method according to the invention which permits producing of such products is characterized in that evaporation of the water-containing waste materials and the mixing with the fixation matrix takes place concurrently at temperatures of 100.degree. to 180.degree. C. The resulting solid fixation product is of relatively small volume and, accordingly, requires only relatively little storage space.

  • Patent number: 4398828
Abstract: The invention relates to a pneumatic mixing silo comprising a storage compartment, a central mixing compartment connected thereto and at least one material inlet opening into the mixing compartment and at least one material outlet connected to the mixing compartment. A considerable improvement in the mixing effect of this mixing silo (1) may be obtained above all if the material outlet (14) is formed by an overflow from the mixing compartment (3). In addition, correcting material may be directly introduced into the mixing compartment through an additional material inlet (12).

  • Patent number: 4252667
Abstract: A method and device for filling containers with evaporated radioactive waste concentrates that are mixed with bitumen and from which the water has been expelled by creation of temperatures above the boiling point of water, in which the temperature of the waste mixture is substantially reduced below the water expelling temperature immediately before loading the mixture into the containers.

  • Patent number: 4204974
Abstract: Method and apparatus for encapsulating radioactive plastic wastes, particularly radioactively contaminated ion exchange filter material containing water, in bituminous solidification substances, by drying the radioactive waste separate and apart from the bituminous substance, introducing regulated amounts of dry radioactive waste into the bituminous substance and kneading the mixture at a temperature of 120.degree. C. or lower to encapsulate the dry radioactive waste by the mechanical action of the kneading, and pouring the kneaded, encapsulated radioactive plastic waste into a container. Undesired decomposition with discharge of pollutants into the atmosphere are avoided.

  • Patent number: 4082205
Abstract: A base for a container for fine material adapted to be discharged pneumatically from the container. The container base has a generally central material outlet in communication with a number of pneumatic feed channels extending radially inwardly from the periphery, the channels dividing the container base into sector-like sections. Each such section has two upwardly converging, oblique surfaces which meet along a ridge-like edge extending towards the container center and at least one of such surfaces is aeratable from below. Overlying each feed channel is an aeratable, downwardly inclined cover having one or more openings at the periphery of the base through which material may pass into the channel.

  • Patent number: 3976331
Abstract: A vertical feeder for the pneumatic feeding of powdered material comprises a pressure vessel having an upper inlet for the material, a base aeratable by fluidizing air, a feed-air nozzle projecting through the base into the vessel, and a feed pipe extending substantially from the top downwards into the vessel and terminating above the feed-air nozzle in communication with a material feeding conduit. A cut-off valve is located in the feed-air inlet pipe and closes when the supply of material ceases.
