  • Publication number: 20030204429
Abstract: A system with user interface controls, a build component, a runtime component, and a workflow engine enables a user to specify an event definition, create an event instance based on the event definition, and process the event instance. The event definition may include a list of tasks corresponding to a life or work event, a specification of resources associated with each task, and a task order. The user may deselect optional tasks, specify participants who are to collaborate in the event, and otherwise personalize the event instance. The user processes the event instance by selecting tasks in accordance with the task order. The system provides access to the resources associated with each task, and allows the user to mark tasks as completed, and to store and monitor the progress of the event instance. Multiple event instances that are created from the same event definition can be processed independently.

  • Patent number: 6158567
Abstract: A trip device serves to cause at least one function on one or more means moved along a predetermined path of motion. It comprises an mounting rail on which a plurality of trip units and at least one bus station are mounted. The bus station is connected by a serial bus with a control means and is connected by flexible control cables with several trip unit. The bus station for its part produces suitable actuating signals from serial bus signals intended for the trip units, such actuating signals being fed to the respective trip units by means of the flexible control cables. On the other hand the bus station produces serial bus signals on the basis of sensor signals arriving from the trip units. Generally the trip device possesses a straightforward structure, renders possible high speeds of operation and is easily serviced.

  • Patent number: 5570452
Abstract: A heater for fluids has a main housing part which is provided with flow channels for a fluid to be heated. The main housing part is surrounded by an auxiliary housing part, and the housing parts cooperate to define a compartment which is capable of containing sparks, flames and explosions. The compartment communicates with the atmosphere via one or more gaps too narrow to be penetrated by sparks and flames. The compartment further communicates with a chamber which is provided in the auxiliary housing part for switching elements. A heating foil is adhesively secured to one surface of the compartment so as to lie flat against such surface.

  • Patent number: 5056719
Abstract: A spray gun or fuel nozzle wherein the underside of the pistol grip handle is formed with a socket for a rotary insert which is connected to two or more supply conduits for flowable materials. The insert has passages which convey flowable materials from the respective conduits to discrete channels in or on the housing of the gun or nozzle. One of the passages can extend from the respective conduit to the inner end face of the insert to admit flowable material into a channel of the handle, and one or more passages can extend from the respective conduit or conduits to annular spaces which are provided in the peripheral surface of the insert and/or in the adjacent internal surface of the handle and each of which communicates with a discrete channel. At least one channel can be provided in a guard in front of the trigger which is actuatable by the hand holding the handle.

  • Patent number: 5029090
Abstract: A method for controlling propulsion in motor vehicles is described which detects when the vehicle approaches the limiting value for lateral acceleration independently of the condition of the load, the tires, the roadway and so forth in that a measurement value for the lateral acceleration, the yaw velocity or the difference of the front wheel speeds of rotation is compared with a mathematical value determined by the use of a mathematical formula, in which method this mathematical value is phase-delayed in a filter and corrected in a first correction unit and the mathematical formula used is corrected in a second correction unit.

  • Patent number: 4842203
Abstract: The nozzle assembly of an electrostatic spray gun has an adapter which is made of an electrically insulating material and has a front surface facing in the direction of propagation of material issuing from the orifice of the nozzle. The adapter has a frustoconical extension which surrounds the orifice and whose external surface defines with the front surface of the adapter an annular space for the tips of electrodes which ionize air flowing toward the spray of material that issues from the orifice. The locations of the tips of electrodes (preferably very close to the front surface of the adapter) and the inclination of the external surface of the frustoconical extension determine the location of contact of ionized air with the spray. The tips of the electrodes are shielded from mechanical damage by being located in the annular space.

  • Patent number: 4806079
Abstract: Apparatus for simultaneously pumping two or more different liquids to a spraying device has a pair of discrete diaphragm pumps for each liquid. The pumps of each pair are connected in parallel and operate alternatingly so that one pump delivers a metered quantity of liquid while the pumping chamber of the other pump receives a metered quantity of the same liquid and vice versa. The capacities of pumps of at least one pair are adjustable in a simultaneous operation, and all pumps are operated by a common prime mover.

  • Patent number: 4794539
Abstract: A propulsion control system for motor vehicles for maintaining stable driving conditions, having a computer unit for determining a desired value or a tolerance range for the rotational speed difference of the front wheels or of the lateral acceleration or of the yaw velocity, and having a comparator unit in which this desired value or tolerance range is compared with the measured actual value, in which case the difference between the actual value of the desired value or tolerance range is used as a control signal for the brakes of the wheels and/or for a power control element of the vehicle engine.

  • Patent number: 4575110
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for damping pendulum oscillations of a trailer hitched to a coupling of a motor vehicle. For this purpose, the coupling at the rear of the motor vehicle is horizontally adjustable at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and damping means serve for adjusting the coupling, in proportion to the deflection of the trailer drawbar, from a position lying on the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in the direction of the side of the motor vehicle into which the trailer is swerving.Transverse movements of the coupling relatively to the superstructure of the motor vehicle cause a continuous shifting in the instantaneous fulcrum or center of rotation of the trailer drawbar forwardly along the longitudinal vehicle axis, whereby interfering forces impairing the driving direction of the trailer are counteracted and driving stability is ensured.

  • Patent number: 4174615
Abstract: An auxiliary hydraulic fluid circuit for purging air from a hydraulic brake system in either an agricultural or industrial type of tractor vehicle by diverting hydraulic fluid through the auxiliary circuit from the hydraulic power system of the tractor into the hydraulic brake system. The fluid diverted into the brake system is observed flowing, through transparent means in conduits comprising the auxiliary circuit, until the fluid flow is clear, to the reservoir of the hydraulic power system. At which event, the brake system is now purged of air and the hydraulic circuit is disconnected between the tractor hydraulic power and brake systems.

  • Patent number: 4162424
Abstract: A command transmitter is in the form of a step switch with a progressive bridging contact, the individual contacts of the step switch being connected to individual contacts of a contact array over which a slider mounted on the drive rod that actuates the headlight elevation position slides. The inertia of the moving drive rod carries the slider beyond the last energized contact of the array. If a single contact array is used, a restoring spring pushes back the drive rod until it again touches an energized contact and the drive executes a hunting movement that is designed to provide no appreciable disturbence of the headlight position. When a second contact array and slider are used, in cooperation with a second set of contacts and a second bridging contact at the command transmitter, a reversible drive is used and there is no hunting movement. A non-reversible drive is provided by an expansion chamber drive controlled by an electrical heater. A reversible electric motor is used in the reversible drive.
