  • Patent number: 8007033
Abstract: A truck has a driver's cab tiltably mounted above a drive train and coupled in an articulated fashion to a bottom chassis by a bearing. The drive train is attached to the chassis, and has a restraint system for the driver's cab. In the case of a head-on collision of the truck with an obstacle at the level of the driver's cab, the restraint system serves to absorb and deflect collision forces at the driver's cab. The restraint system includes a flexible coupling element that establishes a connection, which is resistant to tensile stress counter to the direction of travel, between the driver's cab and a front fixed part of the drive train located underneath it.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 2006
Date of Patent: August 30, 2011
    Assignee: Daimler AG
    Inventors: Kay Morschheuser, Wolfgang Pedrotti
  • Publication number: 20090102236
Abstract: A front-end vehicle structure for a commercial vehicle has a forward crash zone and a rear crash zone relative to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The forward crash zone and the rear crash zone are interconnected via an intermediate structure which is mounted therebetween and extends substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle such that a force that is applied to the forward crash zone can be transmitted to the rear crash zone via the intermediate structure.

  • Patent number: 6786295
Abstract: In a support structure for a commercial motor vehicle including two longitudinal frame members between which a drive unit including an internal combustion engine and a transmission is arranged and wherein the support structure has an independent wheel suspension for each of the vehicles front wheels, each with an upper A-arm and a lower A-arm mounted to the support structure for supporting the front wheels, a support unit is provided which, in front and behind a space for receiving the drive unit extends around the longitudinal frame members and is fastened to the longitudinal frame members and on which at least the lower A-arms are mounted.
