  • Publication number: 20040225039
Abstract: Process for the production on metal or plastic surfaces of thin, hydrolysis-resistant, scratch-resistant and stain-resistant coatings, wherein the coating material can be applied directly to the cleaned metal surface and subsequently cross-linked by high-energy radiation, in particular UV radiation. The substrates can be coated in the form of strip and only subsequently brought into the required external shape. Coated substrates such as these are no longer susceptible to staining by food, cleaning agents or fingerprints and can also be rendered antibacterial. Objects coated in this manner are thus suitable for use in architecture, for interior fittings of buildings, in furniture-making as well as for ornamental applications, and in particular in households, in sanitary applications, in hospitals and in the food-processing and pharmaceutical industries.

  • Patent number: 6533342
Abstract: An actuating arrangement for opening and closing a hinged motor vehicle panel has a fluid drive, a control unit, and a sensor unit. The hinged motor vehicle panel is movable between a starting position and an end position, and the control unit evaluates start signals from the sensor unit and stopping the movement of the motor vehicle panel in an intermediate position. The start signals from the sensor unit correspond to current angles of opening of the hinged motor vehicle panel, and predetermined angles of opening of the hinged motor vehicle panel define certain criteria. It is possible to set at least the angle of opening of the intermediate position via the control unit.

  • Publication number: 20020139508
Abstract: The invention relates to a hot-top mold for a strand casting apparatus, consisting of a hot-top, which lies on the upper side of a parting agent distributor and presses it with its underside against the surface of a mold, an overhang being formed on the radially inner surface of the hot-top, which protrudes beyond the parting agent distributor in the direction of take off of the strand, the hot-top being centered and held by an outer ring, which is releasably fastened to the mold. The mold surrounds a function ring toward the bearing surface of the mold which, together with the parting agent distributor, forms function surfaces with adjustable roughness on the surfaces. In the parting agent distributor, radial channels are formed at the upper side and the underside, the channel cross sections at the upper side and the underside being in a ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 to one another.

  • Publication number: 20020056677
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for filtering and adding grain refining materials to metal melts with a first filter (10) and a feed for a grain-refining material, where the first filter has a porous filter medium. The filter efficiency of the first filter (10) is substantially improved according to the invention by arranging the feed for the grain-refining material in the direction of flow after the first filter (10). The undissolved impurities introduced via the grain-refining material are removed by positioning a second filter (16) in the direction of flow after the feed for the grain-refining material.

  • Patent number: 5701873
Abstract: A control device for a filling-ratio adjusting pump with at least one displacement space works on the suction-throttle principle with a positive variation in volume of the displacement space or displacement spaces and is intended inter alia particularly for common-rail diesel injection systems. It allows an exact, precise and highly dynamic control of the filling-ratio adjusting pump at low outlay, without the system being impaired by undesirable cavitation. Located on the suction side of the pump is at least one throttling 2/2-way valve (21, 21a, 21b; 134; 51, 52, 53, 54; 81; 103) actuated by pressure difference. Either such a 2/2-way valve can be used for a group of displacement spaces or for the entire pump or a respective valve of this type can be inserted in front of each individual displacement space.

  • Patent number: 5370173
Abstract: Process and apparatus for vertical continuous casting of metal in at lest one hot-top mold with metal supplied at constant level. The object of the invention is to provide a process and an apparatus that make it possible, while supplying metal at constant level, to avoid non-uniform temperature gradients, turbulence, and waste of metal. According to the invention this is achieved by coordinating the level, flow rate and distribution of molten metal to each hot-top mold from the outlet opening of a smelting furnace.

  • Patent number: 5325910
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for continuous casting with a continuous casting annular mold. The method includes: providing a continuous annular casting mold having a superstructure secured over a chill, the superstructure including an overhang extending over the inner wall of the chill; cooling the inner wall surface of the chill; introducing a mixture of a lubricant and gas under pressure at the transition of the overhang and the inner wall surface of the chill. The mixture is introduced in a direction parallel to the inner wall surface of the chill. A molten material to be cast is introduced to the mold in a direction from above the superstructure. The cast material is drawn off from below the chill, and the mixture of gas and lubricant maintains a gap between the material to be cast and the inner wall surface of the chill. A continuous casting mold is also disclosed.
