Patent number: 5725830Abstract: A sterilizing container is provided with a seal. The container has a lower part, a cover sealingly placeable thereon, and a closure for securing the cover on the lower part. A seal secures the closure in the closed position. The seal is formed in a planar substrate, such as paper or paperboard, and includes a bar or finger insert element that is insertable into a loop that projects from the closure of the container. The seal is provided with a region adjacent to the free end of the insert element that is coated with contact adhesive. This region is foldable along a fold line to form an unreleasable seal with the free end of the insert element.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1994Date of Patent: March 10, 1998Assignee: Aesculap AGInventor: Wolfgang Taschner

Patent number: 5508006Abstract: In order to facilitate the detection of any unauthorized opening of a sterilization container for surgical instruments or the like having a lower section, a cover sealingly placeable thereon, a locking member securing the cover in position on the lower section and pivotable between a closed position and an open position, and a card-like securing element which can be secured in position on the container and moves into the path of travel of the locking member near to the closed position of the locking member, it is suggested that the part of the securing element moving into the path of travel of the locking member be elastically bendable out of the plane of the securing element and move into the path of travel of the locking member only to such a depth that it slides back behind the locking member when the locking member is pivoted into the open position and during closing of the locking member is taken along with it and is covered by the locking member in the closed position thereof.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1995Date of Patent: April 16, 1996Assignee: Aesculap AGInventors: Lorenz Gabele, Uwe Kulow, Wolfgang Schwanke, Wolfgang Taschner

Patent number: 5433930Abstract: A screen basket is provided for sterilizing containers, having a bottom with openings therein. Holding elements are fixed on the bottom, each having an extension which extends through at least one opening of the bottom. A releasable fixing member provided for each extension is placed on the underside of the bottom, to facilitate the installation and removal of the holding elements. Each extension has at least one recess on a side surface thereof. The fixing members carry a detent element which engages the recess in the corresponding extension. The detent element is held on the fixing member for removal from the recess by elastic deformation.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1991Date of Patent: July 18, 1995Assignee: AESCULAP AGInventor: Wolfgang Taschner

Patent number: 5176884Abstract: In a sterilizing container with a perforated zone which can be covered over in relation to the interior of the container by a filter designed so that it can be displaced and covered over, in order to improve the protection of the filter, on the one hand, and the sealing-off of a bypass under different operating conditions, on the other hand, it is proposed that force elements be used for displacing a covering disc of the filter and the filter itself which change the displacement forces acting on the covering disc and on the filter, respectively, as a function of the temperature.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1991Date of Patent: January 5, 1993Assignee: Aesculap AGInventors: Wolfgang Taschner, Wilfried Wolfle

Patent number: 4971774Abstract: In a sterilizing container for surgical instruments comprising a bottom part and a lid sealingly positionable thereon, with a seal made of an elastically deformable material extending around the lid along the outer circumference thereof and being fixed to the lid by means of a profiled strip, in order to effect a simplified attachment of the profiled strip to the lid without changing the lid, it is proposed that the profiled strip consist of a plastic material with a hard rating and be adhesively bonded to the inside of the lid.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1988Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Aesculap AGInventors: Wolfgang Schwanke, Wolfgang Taschner

Patent number: 4948566Abstract: The invention relates to a sterilizing system for sterilizing containers. In accordance with the invention, an external actuating element is provided in an autoclave chamber structure to hold special closure elements and/or the container lid in an open position and to bring them into a closed position before the autoclave is opened.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1987Date of Patent: August 14, 1990Assignee: Aesculap-Werke AGInventors: Lorenz Gabele, Hausler, Walter Lohrer, Johannes Seibert, Harald Stallforth, Wolfgang Taschner, Otmar Wawrik, Wilfried Wofle

Patent number: 4820499Abstract: To eliminate the necessity for additional seals or indicator tapes in a closure for a sterilizing container comprising a bottom part and a lid, with a pivotable locking bar which in a closed position fixes the lid in the closed position on the bottom part and in an open position releases the lid for removal from the bottom part, and with a safety closure for the locking bar which is damaged when the locking bar is pivoted from the closed position to the open position, the safety closure includes (i) a data carrier card which can be pushed into or put into a holding device on the locking bar, on the lid, or on the bottom part, (ii) a securing member to prevent removal of the data carrier card from the holding device when the locking bar is in the closed state, and (iii) a marking element to penetrate the data carrier card secured in the holding device during pivotal motion of the locking bar from the closed position to the open position.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignee: Aesculap-Werke AGInventor: Wolfgang Taschner

Patent number: 4818502Abstract: A sterilizer having a bottom part and a lid with a pair of pivotable closure bars mounted on the lid and adapted to be moved between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the closure bar coacts with a detent to fix the lid to the bottom part. The free end of the closure bar is angled outwardly for ease of grasping the bar. A stop is provided which defines the open position of the closure bar. When in its open position, the closure bar is generally parallel to the top of the lid and is adapted to be used as a carrying handle for the lid.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Aesculap-Werke AGInventor: Wolfgang Taschner

Patent number: 4796778Abstract: In a locking mechanism, in particular, for fixing filter holders on sterilizing containers, with a housing in which a locking member is displaceable between two end positions, namely a first end position in which it engages behind a locking projection, and a second end position in which it releases the locking projection, with a spring means which biases the locking member in the direction towards the first end position, and with an actuating member protruding from the housing for displacement of the locking member, in order to ensure that unlocking does not occur if the actuating member is unintentionally actuated, it is suggested that a second actuating member be provided and that the actuating members be arranged on the housing on opposite sides thereof and be actuatable by displacement in the direction towards the respective other actuating member, the locking mechanism only being unlockable if both actuating members are actuated.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1988Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Aesculap-Werke AG vormals Jetter & ScheererInventors: Klaus Habig, Wolfgang Taschner, Wilfried Wolfle

Patent number: 4331257Abstract: A closure for a container used in hospitals to store and transport items. The closure includes a cable tie with a locking eyelet at one end. The other end of the cable tie passes through an opening in the closure and then locks into the eyelet. The locking eyelet has a retaining element that prevents the removal of the cable end. The cable, when thus secured, prevents an unintentional opening of the closure and therefore an unintentional movement of a lid of the container to an open position. Preferably the closure is a falling latch and the cable passes through an opening in the falling latch. It is also secured around or to other elements to prevent the falling latch from moving to a position where the lid can open.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1980Date of Patent: May 25, 1982Assignee: Aesculap-Werke Aktiengesellschaft vormals Jetter & ScheererInventor: Wolfgang Taschner
