  • Patent number: 6344431
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of (A) esters of phosphoric acid and/or partial salts thereof with alkoxylated aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and/or aromatic alcohols and/or (B) fatty acid oligo-dialkanolamides as inhibitors against the formation of incrustations based on organic solids from liquid and/or gaseous hydrocarbon mixtures which are fluid and prone to form such incrustations. Preferred inhibitors having a surface-active character are capable of wetting, and especially of spreading on, solid work material surfaces also in the presence of the fluid hydrocarbon phase. They are particularly suitable as additives to crude oils and/or oil fractions susceptible of forming incrustations.

  • Patent number: 5403822
Abstract: The invention describes the use of selected esters, fluid at room temperature and with flash points above 80.degree. C., from monocarboxylic acids of synthetic and/or natural origin with 6 to 11 carbon atoms and mono- and/or polyfunctional alcohols as the oil phase or a component of the oil phase of invert drilling muds, which are suitable for environment-friendly development of petroleum and natural gas deposits and in a continuous oil phase contain a dispersed aqueous phase together with emulsifiers, weighting agents, fluid-loss additives and preferably further conventional additives. In a further embodiment the invention relates to invert-drilling fluids of the types mentioned, which are characterized in that the oil phase contains esters of monocarboxylic acids of synthetic and/or natural origin with 6 to 11 carbon atoms and with mono- and/or polyfunctional alcohols preferably in admixture with other components from the class of ecologically acceptable compounds.

  • Patent number: 5039432
Abstract: Method of reducing the pour-point and improving the flowability of petroleum oil or a fraction thereof by adding thereto a flowability-improving quantity of at least one copolymer of (a) an acrylic acid ester, a methacrylic acid ester, or a mixture of an acrylic acid ester and a methacrylic acid ester, and (b) not more than 20% by weight, based on the weight of the copolymer, of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, or a mixture of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, and wherein said esters in component (a) are esters of a C.sub.16 or higher alcohol or an alcohol mixture wherein at least 75% by weight thereof is one or more alcohols containing at least 16 carbon atoms; and the compositions resulting therefrom.
