  • Publication number: 20160207056
Abstract: A device for coating cylinder walls of an internal combustion engine forming a plurality of cylinders. A coating device is provided for each cylinder, the coating devices are controlled in such a way that the cylinder walls of all the cylinders are coated simultaneously.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 31, 2014
    Publication date: July 21, 2016
Inventors: Martin Schübel, Wolfram Wagener, Patrick Woisetschlaeger
  • Publication number: 20160208370
Abstract: A method for machining a wall of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine, in which recesses in the wall are introduced by mechanical machining. The invention is characterized in that the wall is radiated with a medium under high pressure after the mechanical machining in order to introduce micro-recesses.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 31, 2014
    Publication date: July 21, 2016
Applicants: BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT MÜNCHEN
Inventors: Alois Bauer, Wolfram Wagener, Patrick Woisetschlaeger
  • Publication number: 20160193626
Abstract: A method for coating a cylinder wall of an internal combustion engine, in which the cylinder wall is roughened prior to coating, such that the cylinder wall is compressed prior to roughening by plastic deformation.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 31, 2014
    Publication date: July 7, 2016
    Inventors: Wolfram Wagener, Patrick Woisetschlaeger
  • Publication number: 20160169149
Abstract: A method for working a wall of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine, in which peripheral grooves are machined into the wall, wherein at least one annular saw blade, which is provided on a circumference with a multiplicity of cutting teeth, is used for introducing the grooves, wherein the saw blade is moved so as to rotate about its longitudinal axis and on an annular path. A subsequent forming operation on the lands that are formed between neighboring grooves causes the formation of undercuts that can improve the connection of the wall of the cylinder to a subsequently applied coating layer.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 3, 2014
    Publication date: June 16, 2016
Inventors: Karlheinz Hahn, Wolfram Wagener, Patrick Woisetschlaeger
