  • Patent number: 10851321
Abstract: Techniques for removing sulfur compounds from a sulfur-containing gas stream can include contacting the gas with an absorption solution comprising a metal cation capable of reacting with the sulfur compound to form a metal sulphide precipitate and/or a metal mercaptide precipitate. In addition, the treatment can include controlling a concentration of the precipitates below a threshold to maintain rheological properties; subjecting the precipitate-enriched solution to vitalization; subjecting the precipitate-enriched solution to regeneration including oxidation; and/or other features to enhance the sulfur removal operations.

  • Publication number: 20200080014
Abstract: Techniques for boosting octane of gasoline can include using glycerol and isobutene in a reaction vessel under conditions to generate a blend of Glycerol Tert-Butyl Ethers (GTBE) comprising mono-GTBEs, di-GTBEs and tri-GTBE; regulating the conditions to favor production of mono-GTBEs according to equilibrium reactions, thereby producing a mono-shifted GTBE blend; and using the mono-shifted GTBE blend with gasoline as an octane booster. If a GTBE blend with further increased octane boosting capacity is desired, a purification/separation step can be included in the process to increase the mono-GTBE content of the mono-shifted GTBE blend. For blends with target density or viscosity, the production can be regulated to obtain a GTBE blend with an increase or decrease in density and/or viscosity. Compositions, processes, methods and installations are described for providing enhancements in the production and use of GTBE and its components.

  • Patent number: 9000230
Abstract: A process for glycerol etherification, including a recycle of glycerol and/or mono-ether, to produce glycerol alkyl ethers with low amount of mono-ether by reacting glycerol and olefinic hydrocarbon, and/or the corresponding aldehydes, ketones and alcohols, having 2 to 10 carbon atoms in the presence of homogeneous acid catalyst with hindered formation of olefin oligomers comprising of two essential steps: reaction step (1) neutralization and salt removal step (2).
