  • Patent number: 8083147
Abstract: An arrangement for, and a method of, controlling image exposure in an imaging reader for reading symbols, employ an illuminating light assembly for illuminating a symbol with illumination light, a solid-state imager for capturing return light from the symbol over a field of view, and a controller for successively exposing the imager over a first exposure time period to capture the return light from, and to optimally image, a first area of the symbol, and over a second exposure time period to capture the return light from, and to optimally image, a second area of the symbol. The first and the second areas have different light intensity levels. The first and the second exposure time periods are different in duration. The controller is operative for combining the optimally imaged first and second areas to read the symbol.

  • Publication number: 20100051696
Abstract: A method and apparatus for illuminating a target object such as a bar code having areas of differing light intensity on the target. A bar code reader has a light source that is selectively activated, a screen having a slit aperture for creating a narrow light beam, a reflecting mirror for reflecting light transmitted through the slit aperture and a lens for shaping light reflected by the mirror to form an elongated target/illumination pattern.

  • Publication number: 20070174499
Abstract: Described is a system and method for configuring an electronic device. The method comprises detecting a coupling of a peripheral device to a host device. A first protocol utilized by the peripheral device is identified. An instruction is transmitted to the peripheral device. The instruction directs the peripheral device to reconfigure itself to use a second protocol.

  • Publication number: 20070027964
Abstract: Described is a system having a receiving element to receive configuration information for a network appliance and a generation element to generate codes for a readable element. The readable element is configured to be read by a reading element of the network appliance and the configuration information configures the network appliance for operation on a network.

  • Publication number: 20060219779
Abstract: Management data is uploaded and downloaded in the field to data capture systems, such as electro-optical readers, RFID readers, and imagers, either before, after, or during data capture in a manner transparent to the system without disturbing the data capture.

  • Publication number: 20060065734
Abstract: A system and method for processing scanner signals by storing both a standard digitizer signal and a more detailed digitizer signal for decoding. The decoder can then use the standard digitizer signal by default and in those cases when the bar code pattern cannot be decoded using the standard digitizer signal the decoder may access the more detailed digitizer signal.
