  • Patent number: 6349805
Abstract: The invention relates to a brake lining mounting, especially for rail vehicles, comprising a lining support which is encompassed at both of its longitudinal ends by guide sections, preferably at least partially by the plates of a lining holder which holds the friction lining. A pin is provided on the lining support and is able to move perpendicularly to the lining support. When the pin is placed under spring tension as the lining holder is pushed up onto the lining support, the pin extends through an opening provided in the lining holder in such a way that the lining holder is stopped on the lining support by this single pin and cannot move in relation to the lining support. At least one spring in the form of a spring clip acts on the pin. The spring clip can be moved into a raised release position against the force of its own tension, carrying the pin with it.

  • Patent number: 6098764
Abstract: In a brake disk for rail vehicle brake systems, a friction ring is made of a light metal such as aluminum (aluminum alloys), etc. to reduce weight. In order to reduce the weight further by approximately an additional 10%, the hub that supports the friction ring and is connected with the shaft of the rail vehicle is also made of light metal, such as aluminum. It is necessary to keep the temperature of such hubs below 120-140.degree. C. to prevent the shrink or press fit between the hub and shaft from loosening. To prevent such heat transmission, heat insulating layers are inserted between the inner circumference of the friction ring connected with the hub preferably by bolts. In the vicinity of the bolts, these layers can consist of insulating disks, insulating plates, or continuous insulating rings.

  • Patent number: 5934418
Abstract: A brake lining for partial-lining disk brakes, particularly of rail vehicles, wherein several friction or lining elements are provided which can be fastened to a support plate individually or in groups, in which case several support plates are arranged either directly on the lining holder of the disk brake arrangement or on a lining support which can be fastened to the lining holder. For rendering the surface pressure generated during the braking uniform, the support plates are swivellably linked to the lining support or lining holder, in the case of a group-like assignment, several (at least two) lining elements being swivellably arranged on the support plate.

  • Patent number: 5439077
Abstract: A brake disk includes a ring body in a ring groove on a side of a friction ring which is not acted upon for connecting the mutually opposite ends of friction ring segments with one another. The ring bodies prevent an expanding of the juncture caused by centrifugal force as well as a radial relative displacement of the ends of the ring segments, while a limited relative rotation of the faces of the ring segments is possible when an air gap exists at the juncture.

  • Patent number: 5090519
Abstract: In a disk brake actuated preferably hydraulically, a piston (5) is guided within a housing located in a caliper. When pressure is applied, the piston acts in such a manner against a brake shoe (15) bearing a brake lining (17) that the brake shoe (15) is pressed with its brake lining against the brake disk to be braked. The side of the piston facing the brake shoe has a pressure plate (13) which transmits the pressure forces and which moves transversely within its recess in the piston (5). The pressure plate (13) is mounted on the end of a tappet (25) extending axially inside the piston (5) and bracing itself at the end opposite the pressure plate by a disk (27) at the bottom (29) of the bore (31) accommodating the tappet, and is surrounded by a prestressed compression spring (37). Lateral movements of the pressure plate (13) cause tipping of the tappet (25) and, as a consequence thereof, a reset force exerted by the compression spring (37 ) on the tappet (25) and, thus, on the pressure plate (13).

  • Patent number: 5052277
Abstract: In an hydraulic cylinder for vehicle braking elements, a clamping piston (1) moved in a housing (3) by hydraulic pressure acts relative to a brake lining carrier bearing a brake lining, e.g., in the form of a brake shoe which, during braking, is forced against the brake disk. To prevent the clamping piston (1) in rest position from being pushed back into its housing (3) by axial impact forces, the clamping piston (1) can be coupled at its interior to an hydraulic volume, which, in the neutral position of the clamping piston (1), acts as an hydraulic cushion and counteracts the impact forces.

  • Patent number: 5038896
Abstract: In a brake cylinder (1) for vehicle brake systems a service and a parking brake are provided within a common housing (25). The parking brake (41) acts on a brake actuating member (37) of the brake cylinder (1) against spring force via a parking brake piston (57) which can be loaded preferably by a pressure medium, and can be locked in the parking brake position by a locking mechanism (43) that acts mechanically, i.e., pressure independently, and that is applied automatically subject to spring force when the parking brake is actuated. The locking mechanism (43) is released preferably by loading a locking piston (59) with a pressure medium in such a manner that the parking brake piston can be returned automatically subject to spring force into its release position and is mechanically maintained in this position.

  • Patent number: 4795005
Abstract: The combined service and spring-loaded brake cylinder has a service brake piston (11) and a tension piston (16) assigned to a storage spring (17). Between the tension piston, a wear stroke readjusting device with non-self-locking threading (44) is arranged. The threaded spindle (29) of the wear stroke adjusting device can be moved axially and held stationary via a conical coupling (40), which is also spring loaded in the closed direction and closes in the direction of the braking force output. There is also an annular piston (22), which can be moved into the release position by means of a second release pressure cycle at the tension piston (16) in order to move the piston. On an end section (25), which projects into free space, the tension piston (16) carries a nut (27) which can be pulled into its release position by screwing.

  • Patent number: 4745996
Abstract: A brake ring for brake disks, especially disk brakes for rail vehicles, consisting of two annular bodies (2, 3) arranged adjacently at a distance from each other, having stud bolts (7) bridging the distance and rigidly connected with the annular bodies (2, 3). These stud bolts are so arranged, for the purpose of the most even distribution possible, that their axes (8) extend through the intersecting points of three systems of straight lines (9, 10 and 11) extending in one radial plane. The straight lines of the first system (9) are parallel and are at an equal distance from each other, the second system of straight lines (10) is formed by a rotation by 60.degree. and the third system of straight lines is formed by a rotation by 120.degree. of the first system of straight lines (9). Preferably, the ratio of the distance (A) of the stud bolt axes (8) and the diameter (D) of the stud bolts (7) is approximately 1.7. The brake ring has only minor aeration losses but high heat transmission by cooling air.
