Patent number: 11687927Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods in which more secure methods are provided for a connected device to conduct transactions. In accordance with embodiments of the disclosure, a transaction code is generated and provided to the connected device. The transaction code may be stored in association with the information for the transaction such that when the transaction code is received at a transaction processing server, the transaction processing server is configured to generate an authorization request that includes the transaction information. The authorization request may then be routed to an authorization server associated with an account maintained by the transaction processing server.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2021Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Assignee: Visa International Service AssociationInventors: Krishna Prasad Koganti, Mark Douglas McGee, David Tseselsky, Brendan Xavier Louis

Publication number: 20230133210Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems pertaining to the verification of portable consumer devices for 3-D Secure Systems are disclosed. In one implementation, a verification token is coupled to a computer by a USB connection so as to use the computer's networking facilities. The verification token reads identification information from a user's portable consumer device (e.g., credit card) and sends the information to a validation entry over a communications network using the computer's networking facilities. The validation entity applies one or more validation tests to the information that it receives from the verification token. If a selected number of tests are passed, the validation entity sends a 3-D Secure datum to the verification token. The verification token may enter the 3-D Secure datum into a hidden field of a Purchase Authentication Page appearing on the computer's display.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2022Publication date: May 4, 2023Applicant: Visa International Service AssociationInventors: Ayman Hammad, Patrick Faith, Krishna Prasad Koganti, Ben Rewis, Brendan Xavier Louis, Kevin Weller, Benedicto Hernandez Dominguez

Publication number: 20220079512Abstract: A system is provided for determining a level of alertness of a subject, using a physiological sensor for providing physiological sensor signals which distinguish between a sleep state and an awake state of the subject. Sleep sessions are identified and their associated falling asleep and waking up times. A single representative midsleep time is obtained from multiple sleep sessions over a 24 hour period, and a circadian phase is estimated using the single representative midsleep time. A level of alertness is then obtained from the circadian phase. This system avoids the need for the use of a default circadian phase when determining a level of alertness. The system can more accurately estimate sleepiness for individuals that have irregular sleep patterns such as shift workers or people with sleep disorders. The single representative midsleep time is also able to take account of multiple sleep sessions, i.e. naps or periods of restless sleep.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2019Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Marija DESPENIC, Pedro FONSECA, Xavier Louis Marie Antoine AUBERT

Patent number: 10376207Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus (100) and a method for generating a model output x(ti) describing a circadian rhythm of a person (P) at a time ti. In a preferred embodiment, a light sensor providing the photic exposure (L(ti)) and an activity signal (A(ti)) indicating the current level of activity of the person (P) at the time ti based on motion measurements (via an accelerometer) are used to calculate a wakefulness variable (?) that indicates if the person (P) is awake or sleeping. The wakefulness variable is then used to determine a driving term (N(t)) for a driven oscillator model (135) which simulates the model output x(t) under the joint influence of light and activity.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2014Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.Inventors: Xavier Louis Marie Antoine Aubert, Henning Maass, Guido Josef Muesch

Patent number: 10271751Abstract: A method for monitoring the blood pressure of a patient, comprising the following steps: determining a pulse arrival time signal from the patient 2 based on the pulse wave velocity method; determining an accelerometer signal from the patient 2; and triggering an additional measure or deriving a blood pressure value, taking into account the pulse arrival time signal and a DC component of the accelerometer signal. In this way, a possibility for monitoring the blood pressure of a patient is provided with which false alarms and/or unnecessary additional cuff-based blood pressure measurements can be avoided.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2009Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.Inventors: Jens Muhlsteff, Geert Guy Georges Morren, Xavier Louis Marie Antoine Aubert
