  • Patent number: 10764649
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for allowing a fallback from downloading and presenting a three-dimensional (3D) media content item to a 2D version of the same content item. During the download, a triggering condition is noted, such as network congestion or resource starvation on the receiving device. The receiving device requests a fallback and then begins to receive the 2D version of the media content item. (Generally, the 2D content item is downloaded beginning at a point specified by the recipient device rather than from the beginning.) The 2D version is presented to the user of the recipient device in place of the 3D version. If the triggering condition is resolved, then the download and presentation can resume in 3D, either on the request of the recipient device or by the download server noting the resolution of the triggering condition.

  • Patent number: 10165250
Abstract: A communication system is provided that includes a source multimedia communication device that supports three dimension (3D) video streaming to a destination multimedia communication device. The source multimedia communication device receives multiview video data from multiple multiview video data sources, generates spatial disparity information based on the multiview video data, determine a 3D video content quality level capability of the destination multimedia communication device or user selected service category (low 3D scene or high 3D scene), select a 3D video content quality level for the video data based on the determined 3D video content quality level capability or user selected service category, and encodes the multiview video data based on the selected 3D video content quality level or user selected service category to produce encoded video data for conveyance to the destination multimedia communication device.

  • Patent number: 9715379
Abstract: A message processing system, such as an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) gateway, sends a first message having a specific type of data content to a wireless communications device within a wireless communications network. In response to being unable to process the specific type of data content, the wireless communications device sends an error message to the message processing system. In response to receipt of the specific error message, the message processing system automatically triggers a transmission of a firmware upgrade notification message (e.g., a Wireless Application Protocol PUSH message) to the wireless communications device, which triggers the wireless communications device to request a firmware upgrade, from an external server (e.g., a Firmware Over The Air server), that enables the wireless communications device to become capable of processing the specific type of data content.

  • Publication number: 20080062936
Abstract: A method and system for processing, in a wireless communication device, data concerning a group resource allocation enables efficient use of radio frequency resources. The method includes processing a group properties message received from a radio access network (block 1410). The group properties message comprises group properties for a scheduling group, and the group properties comprise a group identifier that identifies the scheduling group. A group assignment message received from the radio access network is then processed (block 1425). The group assignment message comprises the group identifier and a position assignment within the scheduling group. The group properties are then associated with the group assignment message (block 1430).
