    Abstract: An application of a hydrogel in the preparation of products for the treatment of bacterial infection is disclosed. Ferrous ion was used in the antibacterial activity test of Staphylococcus aureus and showed a strong bactericidal effect, which the survival rate of Staphylococcus aureus is less than 0.001%, as well as the survival rate of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was less than 0.01%. Ferrous ion hydrogel was used for the treatment of keratitis and skin wound infection. Ferrous ion hydrogel for the treatment of keratitis and skin wound infection, which can significantly reduce the risk of pulmonary MRSA infection, prevented the dissimilation of MRSA to the lung, and alleviated systemic inflammation in the body in a timely and effective manner, revealing the therapeutic potential of ferrous compounds for treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infections, including MRSA.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a wound dressing and the method of manufacturing. The wound dressing is a knitted fabric including of a fluffy layer of gel-forming fibers and a backing layer of non-gel-forming fibers. The backing layer includes a plain fabric of the non-gel-forming fibers. The gel-forming fibers are knitted onto the backing layer, a middle part of the gel-forming fibers are held in the backing layer, and two ends of the gel-forming fibers project against the backing layer. The length of the middle part of the gel-forming fibers is no more than the length of one loop of the non-gel-forming fibers, and the length of each of the two ends of the gel-forming fibers is between 1-100 mm.

A method of manufacturing the wound dressing involves reacting chitosan fibre with anhydride and making acylated chitosan felt through a nonwoven process, and through cutting, packing and sterilizing processes.
