Publication number: 20180288773Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system that provides for obtaining, by a server comprising a processor, network parameter data from an eNodeB of a wireless network. The server can determine a predicted bandwidth for a group of end user devices in a coverage area of the eNodeB according to the network parameter data. The server can receive, from an end user device of the group of end user devices, a request for the predicted bandwidth. The server can provide the predicted bandwidth to the end user device. The providing of the predicted bandwidth enables the end user device to provide a video chunk request to a content server that is based on a selected chunk delivery schedule and facilitates streaming of video content to the end user device from the content server. Other embodiments are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2017Publication date: October 4, 2018Inventors: Zhengye Liu, ZUXIAN GUO, DHRUV GUPTA, XIAOJUN TANG, JIN WANG, WEIHUA YE, YONGDONG ZHAO

Publication number: 20180239957Abstract: A heuristic finger detection method based on a depth image is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: acquiring a hand connected region from a user's depth image; calculating the central point of the hand connected region; calculating a plurality of extremely far points in the hand connected region that have extremum 3D geodesic distances from the central point; detecting fingertips and finger regions from the plurality of calculated extremely far points; and outputting fingertip positions and the finger regions. The method calculates and detects fingertips of users by means of 3D geodesic distance, without extracting boundary contours of hand regions, which improves robustness of gesture detection and reduces detection error rates. The method has the advantages of higher finger detection accuracy and fast computing speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2017Publication date: August 23, 2018Inventors: Xiaojun TANG, Jibo ZHAO

Publication number: 20140162682Abstract: Systems and methods for overshooting cell device detection for application to self optimizing network algorithms are disclosed herein. The system ranks neighbor relationships between first, second, and third cell devices in a cellular network, based on handover statistics directly received from the cellular network. The system thereafter identifies one of the second cell device or the third cell device as an outlier neighbor cell device based on a ranking of the neighbor relationships and identifies, as a function of an azimuth direction and a distance between respective cell devices of a group of screened cell devices, an overshooting cell device that propagates a transmitted radio frequency signal causing interference to a cell device included in the group of screened cell devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2012Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicants: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P., AT&T MOBILITY II LLCInventors: Fereidoun Tafreshi, Srikanth Hariharan, Vibhav Kapnadak, Hyun Ok Lee, Xiaojun Tang

Patent number: 8542640Abstract: Methods, architectures and techniques of operating a joint beam-forming and user-selection system across multiple cells for downlink communication in a multi-cell environment. The system coordinates beamforming vector and user selection across multiple cells, but is cellular in the sense that users are served only from the transmission signals originating from one cell. There is provided methods, architectures and techniques to control the level and effect of inter-cell interference through a partially coordinated multi-cell process of user scheduling and beam selection based on the division of cells into different subsets. Multi-step techniques are utilized that can scale to large numbers of cells, specifying which operations remain as independent operations within a cell, and which operations, with what cells, require information exchange.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2009Date of Patent: September 24, 2013Assignee: NTT DoCoMo, Inc.Inventors: Sean A.
