Publication number: 20220226355Abstract: Provided herein are compositions, systems, kits, and methods for treating a patient with cancer by alternate administration of decitabine and 5-azacytidine, or administration of decitabine two times per week on consecutive days, which is generally timed to bypass auto-dampening and exploit cross-priming. Such administration is combined with an inhibitor of the enzyme cytidine deaminase (e.g., tetrahydrouridine) that otherwise rapidly catabolizes decitabine and 5-azacytidine. In certain embodiments, the time between cycles of decitabine and 5-azacytidine administration is about three to four days or five to ten days.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2020Publication date: July 21, 2022Inventors: Yogen Saunthararajah, Vamsidhar Velcheti, Kai Kang, Xiaorong Gu, Rita Tohme

Publication number: 20160326601Abstract: The present invention provides a method for detecting a chicken Beard trait. Copy number variations of three DNA fragments were found to be present in the chromosomes of bearded chicken number 27, in the physical locations 1702269-1721521 bp, 4470331-4503417 bp, 3578409-3592890 bp; 3 molecular markers were determined, and 3 pairs of primers were designed for said molecular markers; the method of PCR is used for testing the chicken genome to be tested for the described 3 molecular markers; if the three target fragments of the PCR amplification reaction are 3200 bp, 501 bp, and 411 bp, then the detection result is positive; otherwise, the result is negative.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2013Publication date: November 10, 2016Inventors: Xiaoxiang HU, Xiaorong GU, Ying GUO, Zheya SHENG, Yanqiang WANG, Hao QU, Ning LI

Patent number: 7560257Abstract: Diagnostic methods for identifying a test subject who has or is at risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or an analogous disease associated with oxidation of DHA-containing lipids are provided. In one aspect, the methods comprise: assaying for the presence of elevated levels of 2-(?-carboxyethyl) pyrrole (CEP) adducts in a bodily fluid which has been obtained from the test subject. In a preferred embodiment, such methods comprise providing an antibody that is immunospecific for CEP, contacting a bodily fluid from the subject with the anti-CEP antibody, and assaying for the formation of a complex between the antibody and an antigen in the sample. In another aspect, the methods comprise assaying for the presence of elevated levels of an antibody that binds to or is immunospecific for a CEP adduct in the bodily fluid of the test subject. The present invention also relates to CEP protein and peptide adducts, an antibody reactive with a CEP adduct and a diagnostic kit comprising such antibody.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2008Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignees: The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Case Western Reserve UniversityInventors: Joe G. Hollyfield, Robert G. Salomon, John W. Crabb, Xiaorong Gu
