    Abstract: The technology relates to using on-board sensor data, off-board information and a deep learning model to classify road wetness and/or to perform a regression analysis on road wetness based on a set of input information. Such information includes on-board and/or off-board signals obtained from one or more sources including on-board perception sensors, other on-board modules, external weather measurement, external weather services, etc. The ground truth includes measurements of water film thickness and/or ice coverage on road surfaces. The ground truth, on-board and off-board signals are used to build the model. The constructed model can be deployed in autonomous vehicles for classifying/regressing the road wetness with on-board and/or off-board signals as the input, without referring to the ground truth.

    Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods that improve the success rate of relocalization and eliminate the ambiguity of false relocalization by exploiting motions of the sensor system. In one or more embodiments, during a relocalization process, a snapshot is taken using one or more visual sensors and a single-shot relocalization in a visual map is implemented to establish candidate hypotheses. In one or more embodiments, the sensors move in the environment, with a movement trajectory tracked, to capture visual representations of the environment in one or more new poses. As the visual sensors move, the relocalization system tracks various estimated localization hypotheses and removes false ones until one winning hypothesis. Once the process is finished, the relocalization system outputs a localization result with respect to the visual map.

    Abstract: A manual opening mechanism for use with an isolation switch of a circuit interrupter is fully integrated into the circuit interrupter. The manual opening mechanism includes a rotating handle that is accessible from the front panel of the circuit interrupter. Rotating the handle applies force to the centerline of the isolation switch drive shaft, which prevents uneven loading and thus optimizes robustness during manual opening of the isolation switch. In addition, the handle has an ergonomic design, and is proportioned to minimize the force that an operator must apply to the handle in order to open the isolation switch.

The mitigation device includes a path of least resistance having a path input and a path output. The arc flash sensor is located downstream the output. A system controller is provided to generate a trigger to activate the actuator to generate the open-circuit condition of the switch, which causes the power switch device to interrupt a fault current associated with a fault event in response to detection of the arc flash event.
