  • Patent number: 6919408
Abstract: Disclosed is a thermoplastic transparent resin composition and a method for manufacturing the same. The resin composition includes 3-15 parts by weight of small aperture polybutadiene rubber latex; 5-25 parts by weight of large aperture polybutadiene rubber latex; 40-70 parts by weight of a methacrylic acid alkylester compound or an acrylic acid alkylester compound; 15-30 parts by weight of an aromatic vinyl compound; and 1-20 parts by weight of a vinylcyan compound. The method includes the steps of a) producing a small aperture polybutadiene rubber latex having an average particle diameter of 600-1500 A, a gel content of 70-95%, and a swelling index of 12-30 by reacting butadiene at 55-70° C. using a polymerization initiator, b) producing a large aperture polybutadiene rubber latex having a particle diameter of 2600-5000 A, a gel content of 70-95%, and a swelling index of 12-30 by enlarging the small aperture polybutadiene rubber latex particles; c) performing graft copolymerization at 65-80° C.

  • Patent number: 6806315
Abstract: A method for preparing a weatherable thermoplastic resin, having superior weatherability and colorability and a weatherable thermoplastic resin prepared by the method are provided. The method includes preparing a seed by adding a water-soluble initiator to either an aromatic vinyl compound or a (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester to obtain a first compound and performing polymerization with respect to the first compound; preparing an alkyl acrylate rubber polymer by adding an alkyl acrylate monomer, a first emulsifier of pH about 3 to about 9, and an oil-soluble initiator to the seed to obtain a second compound and performing polymerization with respect to the second compound; and preparing graft copolymer by adding the aromatic vinyl compound, a vinyl cyanide compound, a second emulsifier of pH about 9 to about 13, and the oil-soluble initiator to the alkyl acrylate rubber polymer to obtain a third compound and performing graft copolymerization with respect to the third compound.

  • Publication number: 20030153710
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a weatherable thermoplastic resin, and more particularly to a method for preparing a thermoplastic acrylate-styrene-acrylonitrile (ASA) resin having superior weatherability and colorability. In detail, the present invention provides a method comprising the steps of: a) preparing a seed by adding a water-soluble initiator to an aromatic vinyl compound, or to a (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester, and polymerizing; b) preparing an alkyl acrylate rubber polymer by adding an alkyl acrylate monomer, an emulsifier of pH 3˜-9, and an oil-soluble initiator to the seed, and polymerizing; and c) preparing a thermoplastic resin by adding an aromatic vinyl compound, a vinyl cyanide compound, an emulsifier of pH 9˜-13, and an oil-soluble initiator to the alkyl acrylate rubber polymer, and graft polymerizing.

  • Publication number: 20020151641
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a weather resistant thermoplastic resin having excellent color matching properties and resident gloss. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of a) preparing a core rubber latex using alkyl acrylate monomers and aromatic vinyl monomers having a large refractive index, and b) grafting aromatic vinyl, vinyl cyan and methacrylate alkyl ester monomers using an oil soluble initiator.

  • Publication number: 20020028878
Abstract: A process for preparing the acrylate styrene acrylonitrile (ASA) resin having an improved impact strength and a low water content is disclosed. The process comprises the step of preparing alkyl acrylate rubber polymers and the step of grafting aromatic vinyl compounds and cyanized vinyl compounds to the alkyl acrylate rubber polymers. Such emulsifiers as alkyl sulfosuccinate metal salts having 12-18 carbon atoms, alkyl sulfuric acid esters having 12-20 carbon atoms or sulfonic acid metal salts are used in the step of preparing the alkyl acrylate rubber polymers. The emulsifiers as rosinic acid metal salts or carboxylic acid metal salts having 12-20 carbon atoms are used in the grafting step.
