  • Patent number: 8148904
Abstract: The present invention relates to a field emission apparatus and a method of driving the field emission apparatus, which has a three-pole structure of dual emitters formed on both first and second electrodes of a rear substrate in order to obviate a distinction between a gate and a cathode, thus enabling dual field emission. In such a field emission apparatus, a ground is formed between an anode and a point of the first and second electrodes of the rear substrate, and a square wave is applied thereto in order to alternately generate field emission in the first and second electrodes, thus increasing a light-emitting area and emission efficiency, decreasing a driving voltage and consumption power, saving the manufacturing cost and manufacturing time, and accomplishing a longer lifespan.

  • Patent number: 7247980
Abstract: Disclosed is an emitter composition of a field emission cell that is printed on a cathode substrate of a display to be applied to an electron emission source, including a carbon nanotube, a binder, glass frit, a dispersing agent and an organic solvent, characterized by further having 0.1–20 w % of diamond. Further, a manufacturing method of the emitter composition and a field emission cell using the emitter composition are also provided. In the current invention, since the field emission cell has the carbon nanotube and the diamond distributed simultaneously therein, it has a relatively high current density even at the same driving voltage, thereby improving emitting properties. In addition, the field emission cell is advantageous in terms of superior printability and stable field emission, while reducing various expenses required to operate and repair constitutive parts thereof.

  • Patent number: 6768255
Abstract: A flat panel display includes a faceplate, and a backplate combined with the faceplate to form a vacuum tight cell. An image production unit is provided within the cell to produce display images from the cell. A plurality of spacers are mounted within the cell such that the spaces are placed at a non-display area. The spacers are held between the faceplate and the backplate. A pair of alignment members are connected to the spacers in a body to align the spacers at the non-display area in a constant manner.

  • Patent number: 6756729
Abstract: A flat panel display includes a faceplate, a backplate combined with the faceplate to form a vacuum fight cell, and a light emission unit placed within the cell to emit light from the cell. The backplate has a plurality of electron emission sources. A frame is mounted on the backplate with opening portions. The electron emission sources are exposed through the opening portions of the frame toward the faceplate. A plurality of spacers are formed on the frame such that the spacers are positioned at a non-display area within the cell. A plurality of gate electrodes are formed at a surface of the frame with a predetermined pattern. The gate electrodes has opening portions communicating with the opening portions of the frame.
