  • Publication number: 20100281350
Abstract: Various methods for written mathematical expression analysis are provided. One method may include receiving written input where the written input is representative of a mathematical expression. The method may also include analyzing the written input to identify at least one operator and at least one operand and constructing an expression tree based at least in part on predefined symbol relationships, the at least one operator, and the at least one operand. Similar apparatuses and computer program products are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090073137
Abstract: A method for inputting characters to a mobile communication apparatus is disclosed. The method includes enabling input of strokes representing a first character in a first area of a touch sensitive display; determining the first character from the strokes; determining one or more candidates of characters for word association with the first character; presenting the one or more candidates on the display; and enabling selection among the one or more candidates. A mobile communication apparatus includes means for inputting characters is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7443386
Abstract: A method for inputting characters to a mobile communication apparatus is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: enabling input of strokes representing a first character in a first area of a touch sensitive display; determining said first character from said strokes; determining one or more candidates of characters for word association with said first character; presenting said one or more candidates on the display; and enabling selection among said one or more candidates. A mobile communication apparatus comprising means for inputting characters is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080166049
Abstract: An apparatus (100) for handwriting recognition has a touch-sensitive display screen (240) providing a hand writing input area (270) capable of detecting hand-made user input. The apparatus also has a processing device (300) coupled to the touch-sensitive display screen and providing a user interface to a user. The handwriting input area (270) includes a writing start area (280) capable of switching between a first two-dimensional scope (282) and a second two-dimensional scope (282?), larger than the first two-dimensional scope. The processing device (300) is configured to handle said handmade user input as either a logical mouse event, associated with a control operation for said user interface, or a logical pen event, associated with handwriting.

  • Publication number: 20060138237
Abstract: A system and method for statistical bar code reading for electronic devices having a camera. After a bar code is captured by the camera, a one-dimensional wave form is created based upon the captured bar code. A feature vector is created from the one-dimensional wave form, and the feature vector is compared to a plurality of reference vectors. An algorithm is used to select the reference vector that is most similar to the feature vector in order to correctly identify the captured bar code.
