  • Patent number: 9459976
Abstract: A computer system includes a system healing module for facilitating repair of a malfunctioning computer. The system healing module may be a set-top box for cable television or a publicly accessible kiosk, for example. The system healing module collects diagnostic data from a malfunctioning computer and provides the diagnostic data to a system healing harvester. The system healing harvester provides the diagnostic data to a system healing master that analyzes the diagnostic data to determine a support server that is responsible for fixing a problem indicated in the diagnostic data. Based on the diagnostic data, the support server generates remediation data, which is received in the system healing module by way of the system healing master and the system healing harvester. The system healing module uses the remediation data to fix the malfunctioning computer.

  • Publication number: 20140195348
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for composing search phrases, distributing searchable advertisements and searching for product information using a computer. The computer acquires a search behavioral data, and composes a search phrase based on an original search phrase, a product category selection and a product attribute found in the search behavioral data. The composed search phrase is comprehensive and includes not only the original search phrase, but also information related to the product category selection and the product attribute. The computer distributes advertisements associated with a bid phrase composed in the same manner, and allows searching for distributed advertisements by matching a composed search phrase and a composed bid phrase. The technique enables a product information search, especially a structured search, to be better performed, and its results better indexed and tracked with more precise and relevant statistics.

  • Patent number: 8161552
Abstract: A white list (or exception list) for a behavior monitoring system for detecting unknown malware on a computing device is maintained automatically without human intervention. A white list contains process IDs and other data relating to processes that are determined to be (or very likely be) free of malware. If a process is on this list, the rule matching operations of a conventional behavior monitor are not performed, thereby saving processing resources on the computing device. When a process start up is detected, the behavior monitor performs a series of checks or tests. If the process has all valid digital signatures and is not launched from a removable storage device (such as a USB key) and is not enabled to make any inbound or outbound connections, it is eligible for being on the white list. The white list is also automatically maintained by removing process IDs for processes that have terminated or which attempt to make a new outbound or inbound connection, such as a TCP/UDP connection.

  • Patent number: 8156234
Abstract: Components of an antivirus program may be updated by multicasting fragments of the update and unicasting missed fragments. The components may include a virus pattern file. The virus pattern file may be divided into several file fragments, with each file fragment being multicast to several client computers. The client computers may receive the file fragments and assemble them into the virus pattern file. The file fragments may be multicast in several rounds. When a client computer misses a file fragment, that client computer may request the missing file fragment from a server computer, which may unicast the missing file fragment to the client computer. An announcement indicating the name of the virus pattern file, the number of file fragments that form the virus pattern file, and the designated server from which to request and receive missed file fragments may be multicast to the client computers prior to the file fragments.

  • Publication number: 20080236033
Abstract: Floating slow-release fertilizer is designed to significantly reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This granulated fertilizer has a density lighter than seawater. Therefore its pellets can float on the surface of seawater. After being dispensed into water, the pellets are able to continually release certain nutrients for a period of time. During this period, an otherwise inanimate water region is temporarily suitable for plant growth. Floating slow-release fertilizer enables the growth of planting phytoplankton in ocean to remove CO2 from atmosphere. The advantages of the fertilizer are as following: all nature, effective, no byproduct, no land using, no pollution, using solar energy mainly, small investment, easy to control, low operation cast.

  • Publication number: 20050154708
Abstract: Described are a system and methods for exchanging information between heterogeneous databases (28,28?). A constructor (54) produces a first semantic network (58) representation of a first database (28). A concept matcher (52) identifies semantic concept equivalencies (64) between the semantic network (58) representation of the first database (28) and a second semantic network (58?) representation of the second database (28?). A query processor (66) uses one of the identified semantic concept equivalencies (64,64?) to generate a request to access data from the second database (28).
