  • Publication number: 20180176901
Abstract: A Trigger may be carried in a DL MU PPDU to solicit an UL BA. Then, the AP sends out the following transmission in SIFS time based on the UL BA information. There are numerous situations however where the AP should process the information transmitted (in UL) by multiple STAs and respond to them within the SIFS time. Some AP implementations (in particular the ones that do not use massive hardware (VLSI) accelerators) may not be able to finish the process within the SIFS time due to a very long PHY (Physical Layer) transmission decoding time (e.g., 802.11ax is 16 uS symbols vs 4 uS in legacy IEEE 802.11) and long PHY and MAC information possessing.

  • Patent number: 9998195
Abstract: Embodiments of an access point (AP), station (STA) and method for uplink sounding are generally described herein. The AP may transmit an uplink (UL) sounding trigger frame (TF) that indicates a request to receive UL sounding elements from a group of one or more stations (STAs). The AP may receive UL sounding elements from the STAs in accordance with UL multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) reception. The AP may also receive, from at least a portion of the STAs, UL sounding feedback that includes one or more UL sounding transmission parameters used by the portion of the STAs for UL sounding element transmissions. The UL sounding TF may further indicate the portion of the STAs that are to transmit the UL sounding feedback.

  • Publication number: 20180160370
Abstract: A wireless station (STA) for operation in a wireless network communicates over a first band and a second band, where operation of the first band includes operation of a first set of band-specific medium access control processing and physical-layer circuitry of the STA, and wherein operation of the second band includes operation of a second set of band-specific medium access control processing and physical-layer circuitry of the STA. The STA implements a power-save policy for the STA to coordinate power-save operations between the first band and the second band, where the power-save policy calls for a change in operational parameters of at least the second band. The STA generates a power-save request message for transmission to a remote device over the first band wherein a power-save request message indicates the change in operational parameters for the second band according to the power-save policy.

  • Patent number: 9992801
Abstract: Embodiments of a controller device and method for channel contention in a wireless network are generally described herein. The controller device may determine if a collision would occur for expected signal transmissions of a group of virtual devices, which may include one or more virtual access points (VAPs) and/or virtual stations (VSTAs). The determination of the collision may be based on transmission times and/or back-off intervals of the virtual devices. The controller device may transmit collision control messages to indicate whether colliding virtual devices are to delay signal transmissions. The VAPs may be configured to communicate with the VSTAs as access point (AP) instantiations. The VAPs may be configured to use different service set identifiers (SSIDs) and/or media access control (MAC) addresses in such communication.

  • Publication number: 20180092039
Abstract: An apparatus for implementing power control for a radio device that has multiple radio transceivers operating in different bands, including sub-bands of a single frequency band. The device implements a power control protocol for communications between the device and a similar peer device. The device sets-up the power control protocol by generating a request to use one of the multiple bands to signal power control operations, and to use another one of the multiple bands to transfer data between the device and the peer device. The device sends the request to the peer device and receives a response. Based on the response, the device identifies a control channel band and a data channel band from among the multiple bands.
