Abstract: A low-pressure turbine of a jet engine includes: a turbine case; turbine blades rotatable about an axis of the turbine case; and a shroud including a plurality of shroud segments annularly placed along an inner peripheral surface of the turbine case while surrounding the turbine blades. Each shroud segment is provided with a projection and an outward groove. The shroud segment is fixed to the turbine case by allowing the projection to engage with a receiving groove of the turbine case in an axial direction, and allowing the outward groove to engage with an inward projection of the turbine case in a radial direction. The shroud segment is provided with a pressure receiving portion that receives a force to release an engaged state of the outward groove with the inward projection of the turbine case in a step of removing the shroud segment from the turbine case.

Abstract: A method for preparing comprehensive antibodies against whole proteins that are expressed on the surface of a microorganism and the comprehensive antibodies obtained by the method are provided. The method for preparing comprehensive antibodies against whole proteins that are expressed on the surface of a microorganism comprises: (a) treating a microorganism with a protein crosslinking and immobilization reagent and thus immobilizing proteins expressed on the surface of the microorganism via intramolecular crosslinking; (b) administering the microorganism as an immunogen immobilized using the protein crosslinking and immobilization reagent to an animal; and (c) obtaining antibodies from the animal.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a first image editing unit, an informing unit, a job supplying unit, and a second image editing unit. The first image editing unit edits a low resolution part of an image in response to a command from another image processing apparatus commanding to conduct an image editing process. The informing unit informs the other image processing apparatus that the image editing process has been completed by the first image editing unit. The job supplying unit supplies a job commanding a high resolution part of the image to be edited. The second image editing unit asynchronously edits the high resolution part of the image at a prescribed time in response to the job supplied from the job supplying unit. The image processing apparatus and the other image processing apparatus may be connected via a network.

Abstract: A method of displaying a thumbnail image of the original image of a data file stored in a storage unit on a display unit includes: (a) storing in the storage unit a first compressed code relating to an image for displaying the thumbnail image of the data file, the first compressed code being generated by dividing the image into a plurality of tiles and performing discrete wavelet transform and hierarchical encoding on the pixel values of the image tile by tile; (b) setting the resolution of the thumbnail image in accordance with the format type of the data file; (c) extracting a second compressed code according to the resolution that was set from the first compressed code stored in the storage unit; and (d) displaying the thumbnail image based on the second compressed code that was extracted.

Abstract: A document management system includes an image input unit that inputs a document as an electronic image; a character extraction unit that extracts character information from the input electronic image; a word extraction unit that extracts words from the character information; a document search unit that normalizes the extracted words, registers the normalized words in an index, and searches electronic images using the index; an attribute information generation unit that generates attribute information including the extracted words, positions and sizes of the extracted words, and the normalized words referring to the positions and sizes of corresponding extracted words; a search condition input unit that inputs a search keyword that is used by the document search unit when searching for a target electronic image; and a word highlighting unit that highlights the search keyword in the target electronic image found by the document search unit based on the attribute information.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an image processing system includes a first computer that processes image and a second computer connected with the first computer via a network. The second computer transmits the image to the first computer via the network after adjusting the resolution of the image to the lowest resolution determined by the first computer so that the first computer can process the transmitted image. Accordingly, the first computer can process the transmitted image at a satisfactory level, and at the same time, the image processing system can reduce network traffic therein.

Abstract: A system for electronically storing and retrieving information. Information is scanned into the system and a user manually designates that the information is to be sorted using boxes which are like folders, sorted by date, or sorted by a card such as by cards which are arranged alphabetically. When the user manually indicates that the information is to be sorted by box, there is also an automatic sort by date and by card. In this case the card which is used is a temporary sort card which is automatically designated. When the user manually indicates that the sort is other than by box, the information is automatically sorted into a temporary box. After the information is stored and sorted, the information can be retrieved and printed, as desired. The system utilizes a scanner, processor, storage device and printer.
