  • Patent number: 9085828
Abstract: A mold is fabricated with a cavity formed in an insulating layer formed so as to be placed on an upper surface of a conductive base material. This mold is disposed in an electrolyte bath to be applied with a voltage, and a metal is electrodeposited on the bottom surface of the cavity to electroform a metal-formed product in the cavity. In this electrodepositing process, when the width of the cavity is taken as W and a vertical height of a head space between an upper opening of the cavity and an upper surface of a metal layer is taken as H, the growth of the metal layer is stopped so that the height H of the head space left above the metal layer satisfies: where 300 ?m?W; H?W/3.75 where 200 ?m?W<300 ?m; H?W/4 where 100 ?m?W<200 ?m; and H?W/10 where W<100 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20100001601
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a spindle motor includes a cylindrical body, a rotor, and a stator. The cylindrical body defines a cylindrical space having the center axis on the rotational axis. The rotor includes an annular body that is connected to one end of the cylindrical body and defines an opening of the cylindrical space. The stator closes the opening while rotatably supporting the rotor. The clearance is formed between the stator and the annular body throughout the circumference of the annular body. The clearance becomes narrower in a direction away from the cylindrical space.

  • Publication number: 20090034889
Abstract: In a disclosed fluid dynamic bearing motor, and a disc drive employing the same, variations in motor performance due to a change in viscosity of a bearing fluid caused by a temperature change is canceled. The fluid dynamic bearing includes a sleeve with a shaft insertion hole in it. A shaft is rotatably inserted into the shaft insertion hole. A bearing fluid is disposed between an internal surface of the shaft insertion hole and the shaft. The shaft is formed of a material selected from a group consisting of steel, iron alloy material, aluminum alloy material, and copper alloy material. The sleeve is made of titanium material.

  • Publication number: 20050185329
Abstract: A recording disk is mounted on a hub in a recording disk drive. The hub is mounted on a rotation shaft. The lower end of the rotation shaft is received on a thrust bearing. The packing is interposed between the enclosure and the thrust bearing. The packing serves to protect the inner space of the enclosure from dust. When the rotation shaft, the hub, the thrust bearing, and the like are assembled into the enclosure, an urging force is applied on the upper end of the rotation shaft. The thrust bearing urges the packing against the enclosure. Since the top surface of the hub is set lower than the top end of the rotation shaft, the urging force is reliably received on the rotation shaft. The alignment cannot be deteriorated between the rotation shaft and the hub.

  • Publication number: 20050185328
Abstract: For a magnetic disk apparatus for reading and writing information to a magnetic disk in the present invention, the recessed portion of the cover of the magnetic disk apparatus has a two-level structure; the space between the inner surface of the recessed portion, corresponding to the region of the magnetic disk surface which the actuator arm does not traverse, and the surface of the magnetic disk is made as narrow as possible. The air flow generated in that space by the rotation of the magnetic disk is thereby suppressed and as a result, magnetic disk resonance is suppressed. Also, the noise level is further suppressed by having two layers of damping plates attached to the outer surface of the cover.

  • Patent number: 6748654
Abstract: A cutting process S1 cuts a wire 1 into cut pieces each having a volume approximately equivalent to that of a desired shoe 11. A forging process S2 sequentially forges cut pieces 2 with forging dies 13, 23, and 33 having three cavities 13c, 23d, and 33e respectively, and obtains a steel sphere 8. A finishing process S3 obtains a shoe-shaped material 10 from the steel sphere 8 without a heat treatment, and carries out a heat treatment to the obtained material 10, thereby to obtain a shoe 11 for a compressor.
