    Abstract: An electric trimmer includes: a base; and a trimmer main body configured capable of sliding movement in an axial direction of the base. The base includes a slit that extends in the axial direction and is open, and the base also includes a fixing releasing mechanism disposed so as to straddle both end portions of the slit. Operating the fixing releasing mechanism to reduce a distance between the both end portions of the slit enables clamping of the trimmer main body by the base to be performed. The fixing releasing mechanism is formed as a toggle mechanism that is configured by a combination of three support points and two links, and the fixing releasing mechanism has a shape which follows an outer peripheral surface of the base. Therefore, this electric trimmer includes high operability, strong impact resistance characteristics, and excellent maintenance properties.

    Abstract: Provided is a vertical power tool capable of suppressing the overall height of the tool. The vertical power tool has housings 2, 3 to accommodate a motor 1 having a vertically extending axis. A stator 1a of the motor 1 is screwed to an upper portion of the housing 3 from below, a brush holder 9 being laterally inserted into the upper portion the housing 3. A pressing screw 11 is screwed into the housing 3 from below to press an outer peripheral surface of the brush holder 9 by a distal end portion of the pressing screw 11 so that the brush holders 9 is fixed to the housing 3 in a pressed manner. The position at which the stator 1a of the motor 1 is screwed is shifted by a predetermined angle around the axis of the motor 1 with respect to the pressing screw 11.

    Abstract: A novel method of producing charcoal. The method of producing charcoal comprises treating an organic material with iodine followed by the carbonization treatment. The organic material is desirably an organic material stemming from the biomass. The treatment with iodine is desirably conducted by bringing an iodine vapor into contact with the organic material. Further, the treatment with iodine is desirably conducted by heating a container which contains the organic material and iodine. The temperature in the treatment with iodine is desirably in a range of not lower than 50° C. but not higher than a decomposition temperature of the organic material. Further, the carbonization treatment is desirably a heat treatment conducted in an inert gas atmosphere or in vacuum.

    Abstract: This invention is directed to a microporous film comprising a 40 to 90 volume percent polyolefin having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 or more and a weight average molecular weight of less than 300,000 and a 10 to 60 volume percent inorganic filler and having a void space rate or porosity of 30 to 75 volume percent based on the volume of the film. The microporous film of such specific composition and structure has a desired wettability and a much reduced electrical resistance. Said resistance being as low as 0.0006 .OMEGA.dm.sup.2 /sheet. Said film has sufficient flexibility and mechanical strength to make it useful in wide variety of applications, especially as separators in batteries or electrolytical apparatuses etc.
