  • Publication number: 20090097990
Abstract: A swash plate type compressor has a cylinder block, a drive shaft, a piston, a pair of first and second shoes and a swash plate. The swash plate has a first surface on the far side of the swash plate from the cylinder bore in slide contact with the first shoe and a second surface on the same side of the swash plate as the cylinder bore in slide contact with the second shoe. The swash plate has first and second edges formed between the first and second surfaces and an outer peripheral surface of the swash plate, respectively. The swash plate has a curved surface formed on the first edge at and adjacent to the bottom dead center of the swash plate whose radius of curvature is larger than that of the surface of the second edge.

  • Patent number: 6158970
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor that decreases displacement to reduce compression load without imbalancing the rotation of the drive shaft when the rotating speed of the compressor's drive shaft exceeds a predetermined limit value. The compressor includes a pressurizing passage connecting a crank chamber to a discharge chamber. A rotated guide rotates integrally with the drive shaft. The pressurizing passage is opened and closed by a valve body. Orbiting balls, which contact the valve body, are arranged about the axis of the drive shaft and the rotated guide. The balls follow the rotation of the rotated guide and orbit about the axis. The orbiting radius of the balls varies. A spring urges the balls in a direction decreasing the orbiting radius of the balls. When the rotating speed of the drive shaft exceeds the limit value, centrifugal force moves the balls against the force of the spring and increases the orbiting diameter of the balls.

  • Patent number: 6015269
Abstract: A variable type compressor has a housing that houses a crank chamber and rotatably supports a drive shaft. Part of the housing is constituted by a cylinder block. Cylinder bores extend through the housing about the drive shaft. A piston is accommodated in each cylinder bore. A discharge chamber is defined in the housing and connected to the crank chamber by a pressurizing passage. An inclinable cam plate is supported on the drive shaft. The reciprocation of each piston draws refrigerant gas into the associated cylinder bore from a suction chamber and discharges the refrigerant gas into the discharge chamber through a discharge port. The displacement and the discharge of refrigerant gas is controlled by altering the inclination of the cam plate. A collection compartment is provided to receive the refrigerant gas discharged from the cylinder bores. Oil is separated from the refrigerant gas in the collection compartment.

  • Patent number: 5984643
Abstract: A variable capacity swash-plate-type refrigerant compressor incorporating therein single-headed pistons reciprocating in the cylinder bores to compress refrigerant gas, a drive shaft rotatably supported and driven by an external drive source, a swash-plate element mounted around the drive shaft and rotated by the drive shaft so that the rotation of the swash-plate element causing the reciprocation of the single-headed pistons, and a hinge mechanism arranged between the drive shaft and the swash-plate element to permit the swash-plate element to change its angle of inclination with respect to the axis of rotation of the drive shaft to thereby adjustably change the delivery capacity of the compressor, the swash-plate element being constituted by a swash-plate-body member made of an aluminum alloy material and functioning as a sliding contact member cooperating with the single-headed pistons via shoes, and a guide-bracket member made of an iron based material and functioning as a hinge mechanism forming member.

  • Patent number: 5674054
Abstract: A reciprocating type compressor including a cylinder block (1), a cylinder head (3) joined to the outer end of the cylinder block (1) and provided with a discharge chamber (3b) or a suction chamber and a valve plate (4) held between the cylinder block (1) and the cylinder head (3) has an auxiliary discharge chamber (16) (or an auxiliary suction chamber) formed in a portion of the cylinder block (1) surrounded by an arrangement of cylinder bores (1a) formed in the cylinder block (1), and the auxiliary discharge chamber (16) (or the auxiliary suction chamber) is communicated with the discharge chamber (3b) (or the suction chamber) by means of at least one through-hole (17) to reduce the discharge pressure pulsation or suction pressure pulsation to thereby reduce the vibration of the gas-conduit line and, when the compressor is incorporated into an climate control system of a vehicle, to reduce noise in the passenger compartment.
