  • Patent number: 5627429
Abstract: A color cathode ray tube includes an intermediate layer between the face plate and the tricolor phosphor layer. The intermediate layer is a selective light absorption layer or a neutral filter layer. The selective light absorbing function and the uniform light absorbing function are imparted, not to the functional film on the outer surface of the face plate, but to the intermediate layer formed on the surface of the face plate facing the electron gun, namely, on the inner surface of the face plate. The mechanical strength of the functional film is thus enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5557594
Abstract: To improve the reliability of reproduction by performing signal processing so that substantially (almost) all DC is eliminated when digital data is recorded on a recording medium such as a magneto-optical disk. When data is recorded on a recording medium such as a magneto-optical disk, generally the digital data is modulated and encoded before being recorded, but sometimes the modulation code is not DC free due to a recording channel code of an NRZI system, etc. According to the present invention, data is divided into parts each having a certain constant length so as to prevent the DC component from building up.

  • Patent number: 5461519
Abstract: A digital tape recording and reproducing apparatus includes a rotary drum, a magnetic tape helically wrapped around the rotary drum, a mechanism for advancing the magnetic tape relative to the rotary drum, and a recording/reproducing magnetic head mounted on the drum which scans the magnetic tape for recording or reproducing digital signals. The digital signals are recorded in, or reproduced from, successive inclined tracks formed on the tape as the tape is advanced. During recording of the signals, a timing signal is generated at a predetermined interval of time after detection of a reference signal that represents a phase of rotation of the drum, and then the timing signal is recorded in at least one of the inclined tracks, interspersed with the digital signals recorded in the track. During reproduction of signals from the tape, the drum phase reference signal is detected and the timing signal is reproduced and detected, and the time interval between detection of the two signals is measured.

  • Patent number: 5243255
Abstract: A cathode-ray tube includes a face plate having a light transmittance of at most 50% and a reflectivity reduction film formed on the external surface of the face plate to reduce reflectivity of an external light. The reflectivity reduction film is a low refraction index layer formed by using a coating liquid obtained by dispersing and mixing magnesium fluoride superfine particles to a base coating of an alcohol solution containing a silicon alkoxide. The low refraction index layer can be laminated by a high refraction index layer formed by using a coating liquid obtained by dispersing and mixing tantalum oxide fine particles to the same base coating as that of the low refraction index layer.

  • Patent number: 5225730
Abstract: A projection cathode ray tube (CRT) includes a multilayered interference film interposed between a face plate pane and luminescent material layer. This multilayered interference film is composed of alternately superimposed of high refractive index material layers and low refractive index material layers, and the number of layers to be superimposed is four or five. By using a multilayered interference film of only four or five layers, the interference layer is not subject to cracks or film separation occurring during heat processing, due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficients between high and low refractive index material. Further, there still remains enough layers to produce a display highly improved in brightness in the direction of the normal of the face plate pane of the CRT.
