  • Patent number: 5335084
Abstract: In an image filing system including an image scanner having at least a color mode and a monochrome mode as image input mode, for inputting document images; a key device for designating the image input mode of the image scanner, an image file for storing document image data inputted from the image scanner and a display screen on which the document images are displayed, a background corresponding to the image input mode is outputted when the document image inputted for the image scanner is displayed on the display screen. If a monochrome document is inputted for processing in a full color or multicolor mode, a monochrome input image and the background which is specific to the full color or the multicolor mode are outputted. Accordingly, a user which looks at the display notices that he or she should change the input mode and inputs the document image again prior to registration of the inputted image in a file.

  • Patent number: 5231482
Abstract: An image filing apparatus and method for receiving as multivalue data an image corresponding to a document, converting the data to binary image data and storing the binary image data. According to the features of the present invention, pixels of that portion of an input image corresponding to a particular color are extracted, and luminance data expressing monochromatic binary image data and binary image data designating colored portions are stored in different planes. Not only black pixels but also pixels expressed in a particular color such as red are described in the plane for the luminance data. Pixels having a particular color to be expressed in "red" such as red characters are extracted and recorded as "1" in another particular color plane, for example, in R-plane different from the luminance plane. The R-plane is recorded with binary image data; only pixels written in "red" are expressed as "1" there and other pixels as "0".

  • Patent number: 5181260
Abstract: Method for determining and correcting the amount of an skew of image which may be read by an image reader, preferably one with with an automatic paper feeding device. Information dependent on the angle of skew of image is obtained in a plurality of the directions with respect to image data and the amount of skew is determined based on the information obtained. Measurement of the information is performed in two or more stages (or steps). At the first stage, the measurement is performed within a narrow range of angles including a reference direction. If no skew angle is detected in the narrow range, then the measurement is performed again at the second stage in a wider range of angles. If a skew angle is detected in the first stage, the second stage is omitted. With the skew angle determined, the image data is rotated in accordance with the skew angle detected to cancel the skew. No correction of the image data is performed if skew angle detection does not result in either the first or the second stage.

  • Patent number: 5129011
Abstract: A filing method and a system for filing image data operate to divide an input image having a dot number larger than a predetermined dot number of a display screen at a fundamental unit equal to the display screen size, to file the divided input images as a plurality of partial image data on an optical disk, and to retrieve the filed images at high speed. The division filing system includes an input image process device for compressing the divided partial image data, and an index generating device, such as a complexity detecting circuit, for extracting either position information of a distinguishable partial image, or address information among the divided partial images. An optical disk device stores either the position information or the address information as well as the compressed image data into an optical disk.

  • Patent number: 5109272
Abstract: A method of superimposing and displaying a color image expressed by color code data and a color image expressed by three primary color dot data comprises the steps of converting the color code data into three primary color density data while converting the three primary color dot data into density data which are in the same form as the three primary color density data, and selectively displaying one of the two density data for each pixel on a display screen. Thus, two types of color image data, i.e., color code data and three primary color dot data are allowed to be handled in the same way and to be superimposed on a color display. This is useful in a color image filing system based on a workstation. In transferring the two types of color image data to a printer, the two image data are combined in memories and transferred to the printer as dot data through the existing printer interface.

  • Patent number: 5034733
Abstract: An image data rotating apparatus has an n.times.n dot matrix memory which temporarily stores n.times.n dots of image data supplied from a first image data memory. A row/column selector selects one row or column of the n.times.n dot matrix memory in response to a rotation indicating signal, which selects an integer times 90.degree. as a rotating degree, for example, 0.degree., 90.degree., 180.degree., 270.degree. or the like. The n dots of image data stored in the selected row or colum are re-written by outputting the stored data into a second image data memory, and by inputting another n dots of image data from the first image data memory in the same cycle, and with the repeating of this cycle, all the n.times.n dots of image data stored in the n.times.n dot matrix memory are re-written so that the rotated image data can be retrieved from the second image data memory.

  • Patent number: 4975977
Abstract: In an image data rotating system for applying rotation processing to input image data of a large picture plane, the image data is divided into rectangular small blocks and rotation processing is applied to the image data of each block. The rotation processing to the image data of each block is performed by first reducing in the x-axis direction and enlarging in the y-axis direction. Then the first oblique axis transformation is applied. Any error data between the real oblique axis and the image element found in the final raster of the corresponding region is held in a memory. Subsequently, the second oblique axis transformation in the y-axis direction is applied, and error data is held in similar manner. Error data held as the initial value for the rotation processing to the image data of the adjacent region block is used, thereby allowing the rotation of the image data of a large picture plane to an arbitrary angle to be executed at high speed.

  • Patent number: 4943857
Abstract: A video signal and a horizontal synchronizing signal provided from a work station are delayed by a plurality of delay circuits having different delay amounts, and phase differences between a sampling clock signal and the delayed signals are detected. A clock generator generates two kinds of clock pulses having opposite phases and the same frequency. A clock selector selects one of the clock pulses as a sampling pulse signal in response to the phase differences. Further, a phase difference between the horizontal synchronizing signal and the video signal is detected so that the phase difference between the horizontal synchronizing signal and the video signal is maintained constant.
