    Abstract: An insulative resin coating film 9 of the range of 10 to 40 &mgr;m thick is formed, by electrodeposition coating, on the outer surface of a pulley 2 inclusive of an outer surface 2E of the iron pulley 2 which is in sliding contact with a belt 3 and an inner surface 2I fit to a rotary shaft 4. With formation of the insulative resin coating film, an electrical resistance after 10 hours of the unit running is 1M&OHgr; or larger. A static electricity caused by a friction between the pulley 2 and the belt 3 is −1kV or lower. As a result, a potential difference between the rolling element and the race ring (outer ring or inner ring) is 1V or lower.

    Abstract: As a steel material for an inner race, an outer race and a rolling element constituting a rolling bearing, there is used one containing carbon (C) and chromium (Cr) in an amount of 0.65 wt % to 1.10 wt % and 2.0 wt % to 6.0 wt %, respectively. At least one of the inner race, the outer race and the rolling element is formed from the steel material. The inner race, outer race and the rolling element thus formed is then subjected to hardening, tempering and polishing. Further, a chromium oxide layer (Cr2O3) having a thickness of 5 nm to 300 nm is formed on a race track surface of at least one of the inner race, the outer race and the rolling element. If the rolling bearing is used in operation under the lubrication at a high traction coefficient with water mixed therein, finely particulate molybdenum carbide and/or vanadium carbide having a particle diameter of 50 nm to 300 nm is distributed in the matrix.

    Abstract: An induction-hardened rolling bearing device used by disposing rolling elements in a raceway track member, with excellent cold drawability and improved wear resistance and extended service life, in which ingredients of an alloy for the raceway track member contain, from 0.40 to 0.90% of C, from 0.05 to 0.80% of Si, from 0.10 to 2.0% of Mn, from 0.05 to 0.50% of Ti and 0.03% or less of N, on the weight basis, induction hardening is applied at least to the raceway surface of the raceway track member, and Ti carbide and Ti carbonitride each having an average particle diameter of from 5 to 100 nm are dispersed on the surface and in the steels of the raceway track member to make the hardness of the raceway surface to HRC 59 or more.

In the bearing face, the hardness is HRC57 or higher, fine carbides (diameter 50 to 500 nm) are dispersively precipitated, and the maximum diameter of carbide is less than 10 &mgr;m.

    Abstract: An inner ring 3 of the rolling bearing is formed by a steel material having the following composition. This steel material contains as alloying constituents C, Si, Mn and Cr in an amount of from 0.65 to 1.20% by weight, from 0.10 to 0.70% by weight, from 0.20 to 1.20% by weight and from 0.20 to 1.80% by weight, respectively, and has an oxygen content of not more than 16 ppm. The content of retained austenite left after heat treatment is from 0 to 6% by volume and the surface hardness HRC of the bearing surface is from not less than 57 to not more than 65. Accordingly, it is possible to drastically prolong the lifetime of a rolling bearing operating under high vibration and load such as bearing for alternator.

    Abstract: At least one of input/output disks, a power roller and a cam disk of a toroidal type continuously variable transmission is formed of a high-cleanness steel in which a size of a maximum inclusion is estimated by the following extremum statistical process. In step S1, a plane including a central line of the high-cleanness steel is cut out in a direction of rolling of the high-cleanness steel. In step S2, a portion d of the cut-out cross-section, which is defined by 40% of a diameter D in the vicinity of the central line, is used as a to-be-tested surface. In step S3, a test reference area S.sub.0 is set at an area not less than 300 mm.sup.2 within the to-be-tested surface, and a root of an area of the maximum inclusion is measured five times or more. In step S4, a maximum inclusion distribution straight line is obtained. In step S5, the root, that is, the size of the area of the maximum inclusion within an estimation area S is estimated.

    Abstract: A deep-raceway ball bearing 1 as a ball bearing includes an inner ring 2, an outer ring 3 and a rolling element 4. The inner ring 2 is annular as a whole and circular in cross section. A plural number of rolling elements 4 are disposed in reliable fashion between the inner ring 2 and the outer ring 3, while being in contact with the outer peripheral surface 6 of the inner ring 2 and the inner peripheral surface 7 of the outer ring 3. The outer peripheral surface 6 of the inner ring 2, while extending in the circumferential direction thereof, is curved inward to form an inner raceway 8 circular in cross section. The inner peripheral surface 7 of the outer ring 3, while extending in the circumferential direction thereof, is also curved inward to form an outer raceway 9 circular in cross section.

    Abstract: A bearing steel includes 0.70 to 0.93 wt % of C, 0.15 to 0.50 wt % of Si, 0.50 to 1.10 wt % of Mn and 0.3 to 0.65 wt % of Cr, with the balance being Fe and incidental impurities, and it has the ratio Cr/C specified to fall within 0.4 to 0.7. Because of these compositional features, the generation of macro carbides is prevented and the need to perform soaking at high temperature for a prolonged time is eliminated. Further, the bearing steel saves the materials cost and the overall cost of heat treatments in the manufacture of bearings and which yet is capable of satisfying the requirements of various characteristics of bearings, as well as a rolling bearing that employs the bearing steel.
