  • Patent number: 6009364
Abstract: A power steering control apparatus for a motor vehicle which ensures an appropriate steering force conforming to the prevailing road condition and hence the safety for the motor vehicle even when the wheels are locked due to hard brake applied on a slippery road. The apparatus includes a first microcomputer for determining a driving torque of a steering assist motor on the basis of steering torque information generated upon steering of a steering wheel and pseudo vehicle speed information to thereby generate and output a driving signal for the steering assist motor on the basis of the driving torque, and a second microcomputer for generating the pseudo vehicle speed signal on the basis of wheel rotation speed signals and acceleration/deceleration signal of the motor vehicle to thereby generate and output a brake actuation signal for wheels of the motor vehicle on the basis of the pseudo vehicle speed signal, the acceleration/deceleration information and brake application information.

  • Patent number: 5335979
Abstract: A unified control device for a vehicle including an anti-skid braking system and power steering control system is controlled by two microcomputers (4B and 24B). On the basis of the outputs of the torque sensors (1a and 1b, etc.), the first microcomputer (4B) determines the driving direction and torque of the DC motor (9) providing the assisting steering torque for the steering wheel, and outputs the torque signal (T) and the first direction signal (D1) for the DC motor (9). The second microcomputer (24B) generates the brake operation signal (B) on the basis of the outputs of the road wheel velocity sensors (21a through 21d) and the brake switch (22). Further, on the basis of the output of the torque sensors (1a and 1b), the microcomputer (24B) determines the direction of the DC motor (9), and outputs the second direction signal (D2).

  • Patent number: 4982805
Abstract: The invention relates to a constant-speed cruise control apparatus for automatically controlling the cruise speed of a vehicle to permit the vehicle to cruise at a constant speed. The gradient of a road is estimated on the basis of an actual cruise speed of the vehicle, the opening of a throttle valve, and cruise performance characteristics of the vehicle which indicates the relationship between the cruise speed and the opening of a throttle valve. If it determines that the road is uphill, and moreover, the absolute value of a speed deviation (i.e., a deviation of the actual cruise speed froma target speed) is more than a predetermined value, shifting down is carried out. Subsequently, if the absolute value of the speed deviation is less than another predetermined value, and moreover, it is determined that the road is downhill, shifting up is carried out.

  • Patent number: 4907155
Abstract: A constant speed running control device for automatically holding a vehicle speed constant makes a response of an aimed speed setting signal delayed to the order of that of a vehicle speed meter indication by making a smoothening characteristics of the aimed speed setting signal different from that of a running speed signal so that the running speed is made substantially coincident with an aimed speed desired by a vehicle operator.

  • Patent number: 4884649
Abstract: A cruise control apparatus for an automobile has a motorized actuator with a motor which adjusts the degree of opening of a throttle valve so as to maintain a desired speed. All or part of the control circuit for the motor is in the form of a hybrid integrated circuit which is mounted on the actuator in a manner such that the actuator can serve as a heat sink for the hybrid integrated circuit. In one form of the invention, the hybrid integrated circuit is mounted on the outer surface of the housing of the actuator motor. In another form of the invention, the hybrid integrated circuit is mounted on the inner surface of the actuator housing. The motorized actuator may be further equipped with a contactless position detector for detecting the rotational position of the output shaft of the actuator motor.

  • Patent number: 4707792
Abstract: An automobile speed control system wherein a speed deviation between a desired speed as set by the driver of the vehicle and the current running speed is corrected by changing the pulse width of a pulse signal applied to a throttle valve of an engine through an actuator for driving the throttle valve. The pulse width is calculated in a control circuit every predetermined time interval by using the speed deviation, the acceleration of the speed, the rate of change of the acceleration, and control parameters as proportional coefficient for the acceleration. The control parameters are selected according to the relationship between the acceleration and the rate of change of the acceleration.
