  • Patent number: 5077043
Abstract: The present invention provides mainly (3Z,6Z)-cis-9,10-epoxy-1,3,6-heneicosatriene (formula 1) and (3Z, 6Z)-cis-9,10-epoxy-1,3,6-elcosatriene (formula 2) which are Hyphantria cunea sex pheromones. The invention provides attractant components having high attraction effect for Hyphantria cunea, that is, Hyphantria cumea sex pheromones having high attraction activity and the intermediates which can selectively synthesize such pheromones with great ease.Furthermore, the invention provides attractant compositions with high attraction effect for Hyphantria cunea including such above noted pheromones.Consequently, this invention is completed.

  • Patent number: 5000987
Abstract: A liquid active substance-containing membrane having an anisotropic structure comprising (a) a polymeric cellular layer containing a myriad of minute closed cells and septa thereof and (b) a dense thin layer covering the surface of the cellular layer, wherein the minute cells contain therein a liquid active substance having a limited solubility in the polymer at normal temperature. The membrane of the present invention can be advantageously used to release a liquid active substance such as pheromones and pesticides at a substantially constant, controlled rate over a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 4808408
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved complex coacervation process for microencapsulation of core ingredients that are partially soluble in the microcapsule walls wherein the core ingredient is first mixed with a coacervation adjacent prior to forming a first colloidal emulsion of core ingredient, and, after combining the first emulsion with a second colloidal solution and cooling to cause gelation, a water-soluble wax derivative is added. No pH adjustment or dilution is necessary, and very high yields of non-agglomerated microcapsules are obtained, both in terms of quantity of microcapsules and content of core ingredient. When deet is the core ingredient there is obtained a long-lasting mosquito repellent.

  • Patent number: 4690786
Abstract: A process for producing a microcapsule containing a liquid active material is described, comprising the steps of:(1) dissolving in an organic solvent a polymer, esp. a polysulfone and an active material which has a limited solubility of about 0.01 to about 2 parts by weight in 100 parts by weight of said polymer and which is liquid at room temperature, the amount of said liquid active material added being more than the limited solubility and being about 2 to about 250 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polymer and said organic solvent being capable of dissolving the respective components and being more volatile than said active material;(2) atomizing the resulting solution through a nozzle into a gaseous atmosphere to form a mist of tiny liquid droplets; and(3) removing the solvent from the droplets by evaporation so as to provide a microcapsule having the liquid active material confined by the wall of said microcapsule made of the polymer.

  • Patent number: 4445641
Abstract: A dispenser for active ingredients is disclosed which provides zero-order rate of release of essentially all of the active ingredients. The dispenser comprises a rate-controlling membrane and a solid microporous polymeric reservoir having interconnected or continuous pores capable of retaining the active ingredient by capillary forces, the reservoir being such that the active ingredient is essentially insoluble therein.
