  • Patent number: 6564731
Abstract: A sewing machine having a threading device is disclosed. The sewing machine comprises a needle bar having a needle attached to a lower end thereof. The needle has a needle eye and a threading shaft has a threading member mounted to the lower end thereof. The threading member has a threading hook, a drive motor for vertically moving the threading shaft along the needle bar, guide means for guiding and rotating the threading shaft at a threading position as the threading shaft is vertically moved, and a regulating member for deciding the threading position of the threading shaft. The threading shaft is moved down and stopped at the threading position and is axially rotated to pass the threading hook through the needle eye. The threading shaft is maintained in this state until a return signal is given such that the drive motor is driven again to pull the threading hook out of the needle eye and move up the threading shaft.

  • Patent number: 5855176
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for producing embroidery pattern stitch data, wherein a pattern or patterns may be entered or selected from a memory (3) and the like and optionally positioned. It is discriminated if the selected pattern or patterns may be wholly received in a predetermined stitch area. If the selected pattern or patterns may not be wholly received in the stitch area and partly extend beyond the stitch area, print data may be produced for printing the selected pattern or patterns, and simultaneously for printing reference marks defining the positions and angles of the patterns relative to the work holding frame for holding the work to be stitched.

  • Patent number: 5003896
Abstract: A device for guiding a lower thread in a zigzag stitching sewing machine is provided with a lower thread guiding unit that determines two lower thread drawing positions in accordance with a selected pattern. The lower thread guiding unit includes a lower thread guiding part which, at one of the two positions, acts on the lower thread to guide a lower thread drawing position to a center of a needle amplitude. A lower thread releasing element, at the other of the two positions, cooperates with the lower thread guiding unit to release the lower thread engaged with the lower thread guiding part.

  • Patent number: 4953486
Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic zigzag sewing machine adapted to produce one or more of buttonhole stitch patterns, including several parts to be sequentially stitched, in response to stitch control data stored in a memory unit. The sewing machine includes a vertically extending presser bar, to the lower end of which there is detachably mounted a presser foot for exerting a downwardly directing pressure onto a workpiece. The presser foot is provided with a photo-sensor capable of detecting a longitudinal end of a buttonhole during stitching operation of the buttonhole stitch pattern; a step-up timing, at which one part of the buttonhole stitch pattern proceeds to the next part, can be automatically detected so that the buttonhole stitch pattern can be produced step by step without necessity of manual operation.

  • Patent number: 4926770
Abstract: A zigzag sewing machine includes a needle hole member having a round needle hole of a diameter slightly larger than that of a stitching needle. The needle hole member engages a laterally elongated hole in a needle plate and is swingable along the latter. A base member is mounted coaxially with a loop taker and is rotatable relative to the loop taker. The needle hole member is pivoted to the base member for relative vertically swinging movement. A lever swingably mounted on the machine housing engages with the needle hole member, and a cam rotated in synchronism with the vertical reciprocation of the needle is in engagement with the swinging lever. A stepping motor is operatively connected to the needle to reciprocate the needle laterally in the elongated needle plate hole, and the motor is also operatively connected to the base member to reciprocate the base member.

  • Patent number: 4878444
Abstract: An electronic zigzag sewing machine is provided with a presser foot including a switch lever pivotable between a first and second position. During buttonhole stitching operation the switch lever remains in the first position, but it is shifted to the second position when either one of longitudinal ends of a buttonhole is detected. A photo-sensor is mounted to the presser foot to output a detection signal when the switch lever is in the second position. A pattern number designating a specific stitch pattern of the buttonhole stitches is renewed to the next in response to the detection signal from the photo-sensor. A control system is provided to nullify operation of the photo-sensor during production of bar tacks of the buttonhole stitches so that the pattern number is not renewed in areas of the bar tacks irrespective of output of the detection signal.

  • Patent number: 4756263
Abstract: According to the invention, when a fabric feed device is set to sew a fabric with the straight stitches of smaller feeding amounts (or pitches), a machine operator is not required at first as conventionally to deliberately push the front edge of the fabric forwardly deep between a feed dog and a fabric pressor. The device of the invention is designed to effectively transport and sew the front edge of the fabric at an initial stage of straight stitching of smaller feeding amount. Further according to the invention, an adjustment of smaller feed amount may be effectively carried out in case of button hole stitches and satin stitches.

  • Patent number: 4696245
Abstract: In a computerized sewing machine, initial coordinate values of amplitudes of needle drops (the stitching width) for line-and bar tacks of a buttonhole are stored in a ROM. Desired stitching amplitude values and cut width values are selected by external setting means on the machine and stored in a RAM. The stored desired data are adjusted to coordinates of the present initial values in such a manner that selected needle drop or stitching amplitude values are offset in parallel relative to a center value of a maximum stitching amplitude available in the machine. The widths of stitches of the left-and right line tacks remain unchanged for different cut widths of a buttonhole and only the amplitudes of the bar tack stitches are adjusted to a particular cut width.
