  • Patent number: 5139817
Abstract: A method for surface treating a thermoplastic resin shaped article is disclosed, which comprises irradiating a surface of the shaped article with an ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 300 nm or less, said shaped article being obtained from a resin composition comprising (I) 100 parts by weight of a resin comprising from 5 to 100% by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin, a mixture of a polyphenylene ether resin and a styrene resin; or a graft copolymer of a polyphenylene ether resin and styrene and from 95 to 0% by weight of at least one thermoplastic resin selected from the group consisting of a polyamide resin and a saturated polyester resin; (II) from ) 0 to 50 parts by weight of a rubbery substance; (III) from 0 to 50 parts by weight of an inorganic filler and/or glass fibers; and (IV) from 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one compatibilizer for improving the compatibility between said polyphenylene ether resin and said polyamide resin and/or saturated polyester resin.

  • Patent number: 4970256
Abstract: A resin composition which comprises(A) 60 to 99% by weight of a composition comprising 1 to 99% by weight of a polyarylene ester and 99 to 1% by weight of a polycarbonate or a polyalkylene terephthalate, and(B) 40 to 1% by weight of an ethylene copolymer consisting of 50 to 90% by weight of ethylene, 5 to 49% by weight of an .alpha..beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester and 0.5 to 10% by weight of maleic anhydride, said resin composition having significantly improved impact properties with less dependency on the radius of notched part without deteriorating the excellent heat distortion resistance or excellent processability, barrier properties, chemical resistance, heat resistance of (A) of the composition comprising a polyarylene ester and a polycarbonate or a polyalkylene terephthalate and being useful for utilities such as parts for electric and/or electronic equipment, parts of automobiles and parts of office automation equipment which have been desired to be miniaturized and to have a thin-wall.

  • Patent number: 4745316
Abstract: In a submersible motor, a liquid is filled into its rotor chamber, a shaft to which a rotor is fixed is supported on a frame by sleeve bearings, and a diaphragm for controlling the pressure within the rotor chamber is disposed at the lower portion of the frame. Chambers communicating with the rotor chamber, are disposed above an upper sleeve bearing and the chambers accomodate a reserve liquid having a volume larger than that of the diaphragm. Therefor, even if the pressure within the rotor chamber rises and the diaphragm is deformed, the upper sleeve bearing is continuously filled with the liquid, thereby enabling continuous lubrication and cooling.

  • Patent number: 4640961
Abstract: A resin composition is described, comprising from 60 to 97% by weight of a heat-fusible wholly aromatic copolyester represented by the general formula: ##STR1## (wherein d, e, and f are not equal to O and e/f is from 0.90 to 1.10, and n is 0 or 1) and from 3 to 40% by weight of a polyarylate.

  • Patent number: 4547689
Abstract: A rotary electric machine the rated voltage of which is changeable by changing-over the connections of the connection terminals of its armature winding. The connection terminals are classified into those used as power input terminals which are connected directly to AC power supply terminals regardless of the change-over of the rated voltage, and those which are not directly connected to the AC power supply terminals and are selectively connected to one another depending on the desired rate voltage. The former connection terminals used as the power input terminals are connected to the power supply terminals by lead wires, and the latter connection terminals are selectively connected to each other by using jumper conductors. The jumper conductors are held by a jumper conductor holder in a relation electrically insulated from one another. A plurality of such jumper conductor holders are prepared, and a suitable one is selected to deal with the selected power supply voltage driving the rotary electric machine.

  • Patent number: 4492884
Abstract: In a canned motor including a stator with a cylindrical housing, a stator core having a stator winding and mounted on an inner surface of the motor housing, a pair of end brackets each secured to one of two opposite open ends of the motor housing, a cylindrical can mounted on an inner side of the stator core and secured at opposite ends to the end brackets, and a rotor arranged on an inner side of the can, the stator sealed by the can is filled with a porous insulator. The canned motor having the stator provided with the porous insulator is produced by a method wherein a mixture of filler in particulate form and resin in powder form is poured in a space in the stator sealed by the can, and the mixture is heated to allow the resin to cure to form the filler and resin into a porous body, to achieve molding of the stator and provide it with an insulator in the form of the porous body.

  • Patent number: 4329122
Abstract: A submersible motor apparatus having a plurality of unit motors connected in series through their shafts in the direction of application of gravity. The shaft of an uppermost unit motor constituting an output shaft of the motor apparatus to which a pump is to be connected. The submersible motor apparatus has an upper thrust bearing disposed above the level of the stator core of the uppermost unit motor and adapted to bear the axial load applied to the shaft of the uppermost unit motor, and a lower thrust bearing disposed below the level of the stator core of a lowermost unit motor and adapted to bear the axial load exerted to the shaft of the lowermost unit motor. The shafts of the unit motors are connected in series by splined couplings.
