  • Patent number: 7892789
Abstract: There are provided trehalose transporter gene and a method of introducing trehalose into cells by using the gene. Candidates for the trehalose transporter genes were searched in P. vanderplanki EST, resulting in being obtained cDNA designated as Tret1. Tret1 encodes a 504 amino acid protein with 12 trans-membrane structures. Tret1 expression was induced by desiccation stress and predominant in the fat body. Functional expression of TRET1 in Xenopus oocytes showed that transport activity was specific for trehalose and independent of extracellular pH and electrochemical membrane potential. The direction of transport of TRET1 was reversible depending on the concentration gradient of trehalose. Apparent Km and Vmax of TRET1 for trehalose were extraordinarily high values. These results indicate that TRET1 is a facilitated, high-capacity trehalose-specific transporter. Tret1 is widespread in insects. Furthermore, TRET1 conferred trehalose permeability upon cells including those of vertebrates as well as insects.

  • Publication number: 20090096201
Abstract: To ensure stable EA operation without being affected by action of a pretensioner. A seat belt retractor comprises a torsion bar 7 of which one end in the axial direction is connected to a spool 4 and which is torsionally deformable because of relative displacement between the one end side and the other end side in the axial direction, a pretensioner 11 which is disposed on the other end side in the axial direction of the spool 4 and which rotates the spool 4 in a direction 10. of winding a seat belt 3 when the vehicle rapidly decelerates, a main pawl 12 which is disposed on one end side in the axial direction of the spool 4, and a sub pawl 13 which is disposed on the other end side in the axial direction of the torsion bar 7. During the normal operation, the main pawl 12 is actuated to lock the spool 4 to prevent the spool 4 from rotating in the direction of withdrawing the seat belt 3.

  • Publication number: 20090057471
Abstract: A seat belt retractor includes a seat belt, a spool, and an emergency locking mechanism for preventing the spool from rotating in a belt withdrawal direction. The emergency locking mechanism allows rotation of the spool not in operation and prevents the rotation of the spool in the belt withdrawal direction when in operation. A lock gear includes ratchet teeth on an outer periphery of the emergency locking mechanism arranged in an annular shape. The lock gear rotates with the spool when the emergency locking mechanism is not in operation and actuates the locking mechanism when the emergency locking mechanism is in operation. A vehicle sensor includes an engaging claw and detects a vehicle deceleration larger than a predetermined deceleration. The engaging claw engages with one of the ratchet teeth to prevent rotation of the lock gear in the belt withdrawal direction.

  • Publication number: 20090057470
Abstract: A seat belt retractor including a spool for winding up the seat belt, and a locking mechanism that prevents rotation of the spool. A belt withdrawal sensor actuates when the seat belt is withdrawn at a speed higher than a normal speed. The locking mechanism is actuated based on the actuation of the belt withdrawal sensor. A lock gear rotates with the spool when the locking mechanism is not in operation and rotates relative to the spool when the lock actuation mechanism is in operation. The lock gear actuates the locking mechanism by relative rotation between the lock gear and the spool. The belt withdrawal sensor is disposed on the lock gear allowing the belt withdrawal sensor to oscillate between an inoperative position and an operative position. An oscillation preventive member prevents the oscillation of the belt withdrawal sensor.

  • Patent number: 7138515
Abstract: The present invention was conceived from the findings; that a specific higher-order structure can be formed in CrP-like viruses; that linkage of a gene reading frame downstream in the higher-order structure permits initiating the translation of a protein from various amino acids; and that a change in the combination of base pairs involved in the formation of the higher-order structure immediately upstream in the translation initiation site permits initiating the synthesis of any protein from any codon.

  • Publication number: 20060243844
Abstract: In an emergency situation, a pretensioner is activated so that a spool and a locking base are quickly rotated together in a belt-retracting direction. Subsequently, a stopper is guided along a guide groove so as to move (rotate) counterclockwise relatively with respect to the locking base, thereby reaching an active position. Accordingly, the stopper is released from a latching claw, and a quick-lock pawl is rotated clockwise with a biasing force of a spring, whereby the latching claw becomes engaged with internal teeth. Thus, the locking base becomes locked so that the locking base is prevented from rotating in the belt-withdrawing direction, and the EA operation by the torsion bar is quickly performed.

  • Publication number: 20060237569
Abstract: A seatbelt retractor including a spool including a first spool component for retracting the seatbelt and a second spool component to which a driving force of a pretensioner is transmitted. When the relative rotational torque reaches a predetermined value or more, a member linking the spool components is subject to bending deformation and tensile deformation so that the first spool component rotates relatively with respect to the second spool component in a belt-withdrawing direction. As a result, the spool rotates in a belt-retracting direction so that a torsion bar becomes twisted, whereby impact energy is absorbed.

  • Patent number: 7124974
Abstract: A seat belt retractor which achieves stable performance of a pretensioner. The seat belt retractor includes a spool for winding up a belt thereon. The spool has a shaft portion, a spool gear, and a spring-biased shaft projection which are disposed to project from a face of the spool. A spool bearing (or ring-like collar) is fitted around the shaft portion of the spool. The spool bearing is made of a material having high hardness and high rigidity such as SUS or SC. By this spool bearing, the spool is prevented from being directly subjected to load, like a bearing.

  • Patent number: 6863234
Abstract: A seat belt retractor configured to prevent the occurrence of backlash between the torsion bar and a member to which the same is fitted even when a force is applied to the torsion bar when rotation of the retractor is locked. Backlash preventing ribs are provided on the inner peripheral surfaces of the axial hole of the reel on the sides which not subject to a large force between the reel and the torsion bar. Therefore, since a large force generated when rotation of the locking base of the locking mechanism in the webbing unwinding direction is locked is not applied to these backlash preventing ribs the collapse of the backlash preventing ribs caused by such a force can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6761328
Abstract: A seat belt retractor including a torsion bar is provided. A second torque transmitting portion of the torsion bar is clamped between a reel and a holder member press-fitted radially in the reel without backlash in the axial direction. A first torque transmitting portion is strictly fixed to a pawl holder without backlash in the axial direction by radially crimping an internal periphery of a left end portion of the pawl holder of a locking means. Therefore, the first and second torque transmitting portions conventionally formed in a torsion bar are effectively used, thereby eliminating a groove for an E-ring as conventionally used and thus simplifying the configuration of the torsion bar. In addition, since the first and second torque transmitting portions can operate without backlash, the occurrence of jarring noise due to vibrations of the seat belt retractor can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6739540
Abstract: A seat belt retractor having a structure preventing a gear or pinion having external teeth from being improperly assembled to a spool gear. The pinion includes concave portions on its inner periphery and the spool gear includes corresponding convex portions on its outer periphery. The concave and convex portions are configured to be fit together may be inclined in the circumferential direction and thus have no symmetrical plane. If during assembly the pinion is positioned adjacent the spool gear with the wrong side out, the pinion and the spool gear would not fit together and the mistake would be noticed and, therefore, prevented.
